I'm using 9mm Hardi board 4x8 sheets on the exterior of my workshop. I searched their site and cannot find how to finish the joints for exterior. Do you use the same process as interior using their putty and paper tape?

I believe your choices for the vertical seam are battens or caulk. Horizontal seams need z flashing.

Google "Hardiepanel installation".

I was going to say reglet or (and they make a reglet for it) reverse batten - take strips of galvanized steel and then leave a reveal. We did it on a garage with cedar on the side that faced the house and then ripped 12" strips for the other sides. the reveal was 1 1/2"
