Hardinge tool room lathe problem

I have an older hardinge toolroom lathe. I bought it about two years ago and haven't really used it much but the first time I adjusted the rpms down it seems to be stuck. I cannot make the rpms come back up. I can hear a relay clicking but it's almost as though the adjustment motor isn't rotating. Anyone ever had this issue?
I'll try to get some pics tomorrow.

Here is the only picture I could find of this machine. Anyone have the same issue?

You might try here as well: http://hobby-machinist.com/forums/

Practical Machinist is a good place to read and learn, but it seems to be set up more for career machinists and they don't take too well to hobby types over there. Hobby Machinist is a very friendly place with people offering to help noobies.

If you can check the voltage to the speed adjustment motor, have you checked the fuses?

Steve

Thanks Steve for replying. I checked the voltage to that motor first. It was good. It went down in speed the first time I adjusted it but never went the opposite direction.
Maybe a brush problem?
I've only used this lathe a handful of times but I just leave it in the speed it's in.

I'm digging into some foggy memories here but doesn't that machine require the spindle to be turning to adjust the speed? Is your spindle running when speed changing?
