Got tired of needing the bottom bin in a stack on a shelf. I went through weeks of looking through forums and took some inspiration from posts here and elsewhere.
Most of my hardware is in Flambeau tackle boxes, similar to Plano 3700s but thinner, I loaded them up with stainless hardware when I worked at a hardware store, saved thousands easily.
I also use the DeWalt deep and thin organizers for various kits as well as screws.
I made 4 tackle box shelves, tried to make them modular which is why they are separate. 2 will be for the garage and 2 will be for the closet with fishing tackle. They are entirely 1/2" birch plywood and the shelves are 1/4" MDF, I routed the dados out with a DeWalt 20v router, Diablo bit, and the Quinn workpiece board clamp from harbor freight, first time cutting dados. I was approximately 1/8" off and must have accidentally switched the sides unfortunately, 2 of the boxes have slightly crooked shelves, they lean on one side.
Since I had all the tools out and some hobby funds I went broke and decided to build a bigger version for more hardware, the walls, top, and bottom, are 3/4" ply and the back and shelves are 1/2"
It is sized to hold the hardware bins but also fit 2 of the tackle box shelves on top. I routed dados in to use shelf standards/pilaster rails from Knap and Vogt
I should note that K&V also owns John Sterling, but the clips they sell under the JS name are not the same quality as a true K&V 256 shelf clip.
I had to wait for stronger casters and name brand clips, so everything got 4 coats of traditional oil based polyurethane to match the rest of my garage.
I do not own a table saw, everything was cut with a dewalt 6.5" brushless circ saw and a kreg fence or track.
