Hardware Sourcing: Cap Nuts

Yakima has a kit for mounting roofrack tracks. They call it a CapNut kit. I am wondering if they are a common sourced part, or custom to them. Does anyone know of source for something like this besides buying it directly from Yakima? I ask because I may want to use different size hardware, but like the style of that cap nut.

Those are almost certainly custom to that vendor. You might find something functionally similar, but they won't look the same. Try McMaster Carr.

There are gazillions of plastic knobs out there, the problem is finding them with "locknut" capacity. If you can find one with the nut of appropriate size just slid into the knob you could swap them out.

Those are specific to Yakima.

You can look for "threaded knobs" on McMaster-Carr and get very close. Not sure if any contain a Nylock nut, though.

What size are those threads?
