Where did you get the fronts? Some food for thought.

Chassis looks great X
Dalton stopped by when he got off work and said they got the body blasted so I will pick it up in the morning. I think we finished at the bil's house today so maybe I'll get to work on the chassis tomorrow.

Thank you, Sir. It's a hobby of mine, building custom wagons. 2 down, 2,495,238,893 to go.

Aw, that's cute! Is it gonna be used as a pedal car by a little guy/gal?

I've bought new pedal cars for the two households where our grandkids are, but seems like they didn't get as-much use as I gave my pedal cars in the mid-1950's.

I have a small collection of pedal cars, most are 1950's. Here's a pic of a shop art piece I did. I've kept the 'as-found' condition for the ones in my collection, but the one this piece came-from, was so-far gone from the 'tin worm,' this was about the only usable piece left. I cut the front off the body, and I soaked it in 6% vinegar for a couple of days, which did a great job of cleaning it up, better-than using my media blasting cabinet, I think. It did cause some perforation where the rust hadn't yet eaten entirely through the sheetmetal. I'm sure the same thing would have happened from trying to media-blast it.

In the collection are several firetrucks, being retired from fire-rescue, these are fun mementos. I also like the vintage open-wheeled racers, and I have several of those, like the Indy Cars, of the era when they were AAA-sanctioned front-engined racecars. Think Bill Vukovitch and Mauri Rose. The mighty midget racecars of the same era are like these, too.

Are you going to try to tuck the rears? I kind of wished I had brought mine in a little more.

Bugnut
I bought a sad face murry to rebuild but it lives in my wife's flower bed now. The gasser will not see Pampers duty ever again, it will live on the wall in my shop next to the others.

I'm not sure how I'm going to proceed yet, I'm thinking about cutting the back wheel wells out to drop the rear. I cant tuck the rears as they are as wide as the body and I wouldn't be able to mount the rear axle. I dont like how much hood is used by the windshield. The front grill area is toast. I want to build stainless bumpers but gassers usually dont run a front bumper. I did find a small spun aluminum tank for the front.
I think I spent too much time looking at it today.
I like the wagon, pretty cool.
I was going to go buy another pedal car today but I was too slow.

I think the spun tank is the answer to the front end of this pedaller, I love the few I've seen. Cut the entire rot off and put the tank there? Or is it possible for you to reproduce/repair the rot? If you open up the rear wheel wells, are you going to try to move the "trim" detail up too?

A scooter with a weed eater motor on it. It's got to have gas. I think I have put a motor on everything I've owned.........

I'm cool with hot rodding electric vehicles. The kid's Power Wheels went from 6v to 18v, and if I'd had one more motorcycle battery, it would have been 30v. That little sucker hauled.

My budy (Piston broke) put a Dewalt drill in his grandsons pedal car. Got to have power.
Happy new year to you and everyone else out there. We are going to have a great 2021.

My buddy (girl)... had a similar request... with a 18v dewalt sawzall and her _____ ... she enjoyed the increase in power.

The result was really able to clean all her corners.

I got my bil to cut up a tree and split it, it fell at the neighbors house the neighbor is 82 so we took care of it. Now it is stacked nicely in my shop, red oak. He also brought three 55 gallon drums with him so I made him a compost barrel and made Pat a new burn barrel.

Rims are cleaning up nice, Jim!
Gonna look just like chrome reverse, like in the good old days.
Have a color picked out yet? Hopefully something with a ton of flake.

Terry, Happy New year buddy, how did the phseant hunt go.
On the color I dont know yet but it will be big flake, I'm thinking about naming it Temper Tantrum.
Any ideas post them, I need an idea.
The rims are a job, they came off of a racing go cart and are covered in traction compound and were black.

I'm kinda partial to red. Goes with the Temper Tantrum pretty well, I think.
Sounds like the wheels are a pain!

Pheasant trip is this coming weekend.
Today would be a perfect day for it though. Got a few inches of new snow last night. Looks pretty and would make for an enjoyable walk in the country, birds or not.

I don't miss the maul one bit. I used to be pretty good with it. How are you polishing the wheels? Where did you get them from?

Yep, as much as I hate snow it dose make bird hunting better. My dislike is due to being the on call guy when I worked at Montgomery, everytime I planned something I would get the call to plow or salt. All in the past now[emoji106]
When I get the pedal gasser onto all fours I will get some pics and see if I can photoshop a paint job, see what Red looks like. I need to go to the storage bay and see if I can find some hubs for the rear axle.
I have been in the shop all day, mainly doing nothing but I did manage to order some wet sand paper from 800 to 3000 grit should be here tuesday. A couple weeks back I broke my tubing bender so I cut it back and beefed it up with a thicker bracket and some gussets.
1609712903863.jpeg
The guy I bought it from had it mocked up but it never was fully finished.
20210103_173602.jpeg
He designed it to go into his truck hitch and that works well for now. Next summer I will put an anchor point behind the shop where it will live.
20210103_173613.jpeg
Got a little smoothing done on the mini chopper fender it will need one more coat, maybe tomorrow.
Its past five o clock here so Im going to the house.
20210103_145613.jpeg
Also I did hang the gas pump panels on the wall in the fab shop so I can start making a plan for them to become a pump.

I dont miss it either, that's my bil swinging it. I stayed behind the camera!
The rims came off of a racing go cart my buddies shop builds and dose maintenance on them. He has a semi trailer full of old parts out behind his shop.

So far I am using my grinder with a cotton wheel on it. I only had 360 grit paper the night I polished the one but it is rough, I ordered some wet sand paper and some cotton wheels to put on my die grinder they will let me get all the way to the bottom inside the rim.
20210103_180550.jpeg
They are 6.5" overall
20210103_180558.jpeg
3.5" deep inside.
I'm not sure why I'm polishing them, I guess it's good practice.
