rmack,
wheels through time is in Maggie valley about an hour and a half from pigeon forge if you like old motorcycles.
https://wheelsthroughtime.com/
Dale had the show on Moter Trend tv

http://129dragon.com/featured-dragon-rides/cherokee

https://www.visitmysmokies.com/blog/smoky-mountains/tail-of-the-dragon-in-the-smoky-mountains
There is a casino and hotel in Cherokee

Floyd's muscle car museum is in Sevierville https://musclecarmuseum.com

Cades cove is open again and is a beautiful nature spot, almost guaranteed to see bear, elk, deer, turkey when you drive the loop, but everyone is social distancing there so you cant move very fast, my sil and bil go there at least twice a month. The drive to get there is a blast it's a roller coaster ride like the tail of the dragon

.

I guess we should ask what you want to see instead of us telling you what we go to see.

Yea, that's probably a weeks worth for you. I didnt start out with the thought of owning a car lot it just kind of sneaks up on you.
I really do need to sell the two Fords Pat would like an explorer so that's probably our next purchase.
I should put a set of head gaskets on the 2005 Dodge Ram and sell it also. Pat suggested finding a hellcat motor and put in it instead, so you see why I wind up keeping everything. It's her fault.
On a lighter note I did get three roof panels welded out and cut and tack welded the braces in the fourth panel. If I can get the boys to come over and move things around I may be finished with the gazebo tomorrow.

I didnt get to the fourth panel today I was distracted (Squirrel) by market place. Pat and I were drinking our coffee and surfing the net. I found a cabinet contacted the owner and got an address, called the bil and went to Georgia. This thing is heavy, it took three of us to get it in the truck.
20210204_145516.jpeg
I will take the doors off and have open shelves.
20210204_145533.jpeg
I'll use the doors to make replacement drawers.
I am going to put this in the left side of the shop, y'all haven't been on that side yet.
I may put my miter saw in the recess when I build the counter top.

HJ, that's a good looking cabinet for a mitersaw station. It does look very heavy.
I wonder what the original use was for. Seems a little unusual that each drawer would have a lock on it.
Looking forward to seeing the gazebo after pc.

I met him years ago before all of the tv ****. I did not know he had passed. There was a lot of knowledge in that man's head, he will be missed. May he ride his Indian through the heavens for ever.
The cabinet is white birch and is heavy, my back is really hurting today. It took four of us to move it to the left stall earlier today.

I got to salvage the science building at Lee University several years ago and this cabinet looks just like those. The locks were for each student to lock up there work in a drawer.
I hauled two 53' semi trailers full of those tables, slate counter tops and chairs off the third floor of the science building to the parking lot. I had about 10 different day workers quit and walk away doing that job.
Uncle willie
I think I got one too.

I made the missing drawers today while the weather was nice.
20210205_171305.jpeg
I cut the side rails from a piece of 2x6 scrap.
20210205_171218.jpeg
Cut some slots.
20210205_174422.jpeg
I used one of the doors for the drawer fronts
20210205_174445.jpeg
Made two, repaired two.
20210205_174558.jpeg
I have some handles in one of the drawers that I will install later.

I'm going to load the gazebo and haul it to PC early next week. Then I need to order metal for the roof.
The boys said they may blast and coat it next saturday, it will be an all day job.

nice work on the skillets. i'm assuming those are dates when your furry friends left to wait for you and your bride?

i've only seen parts of that big gazebo you're building as you say you are welding sections at a time so still looking forward to seeing it done when you get time.

nice work on the old wood lab bench making a couple drawers out of one of the cabinet doors you don't need.

Those are wedding dates. We made them for our brides for valentine's day.
The gazebo is almost finished I have a threaded bung and a switch box to install on one of the legs for power to the ceiling fan. The plan is to finish it tomorrow and get it hauled to the powder coat shop but every time I say that something else stops me, but that's the plan.
I cant believe that things are falling into place with this portion of the shop the way that they are. I had a picture in my mind of how I thought it would be and all of the pieces are coming together nicely. I have acquired some steel cabinets and a card file to go in the space also. I'm hoping to get the basement finished in the next few weeks and move on to the stall in the shop.

We have a 32" plotter but I would like to get one of those vinyl cutters for crafts, I think it would be handy for small stuff.

If you think you might want to cut other things besides vinyl, take a look at a Cricut Maker.

https://cricut.com/en_us/cricut-maker

Wife picked one up a few months ago and is really enjoying it. After seeing some of the projects she's made, I'm getting some ideas on how I could use it as well.

You could get the cricut and some snaps, that way you can change the label to fit your mood.

I had a headache from hell all day yesterday, I dont get one often and they dont usually last too long, but that one was an all day sucker.

Its 65 degrees I got the doors open and the frogs are croaking across the road in the creek, a body would think it was spring. They say it may snow thursday.
20210209_132900.jpeg

I did a little to the gazebo today
20210209_121903.jpeg
I cut a hole in the leg
20210209_122108.jpeg
Smoothed things out
20210209_123215.jpeg
I set an electrical box in the hole and marked it with a sharpie
20210209_123252.jpeg
I cut the back off of the box and cleaned everything up
View attachment 1
The electrical box was welded in
20210209_125931.jpeg
I cut a strip 12"x 2.5" for a water shield
20210209_131753.jpeg
Everything is welded and cleaned
20210209_132201.jpeg
There will be a fan/light in the ceiling and an outlet for Christmas lights.

I got the new vinyl for my GMC this afternoon so I thought I would get them on.
20210209_153552.jpeg
The way it was parked in my Mothers car port the left side was exposed to the afternoon sun.
20210209_153716.jpeg
I used the heat gun and removed the old ones
20210209_154250.jpeg
There was a fade line around the old vinyl so I had to buff the fender
20210209_155526.jpeg
Left side finished, tape was for reference

20210209_160456.jpeg
There was paint transfer in several spots on the right fender that had to be buffed also
20210209_160501.jpeg
More paint transfer
20210209_162139.jpeg
Right side done
20210209_162232.jpeg
Now I need to wash and buff the whole truck

you said you don't get headaches often so wondering if you were exposed to some chemicals for too long? typically I'd say diet or maybe something is out of wack in your body, but you do spend quite a bit of time in the shop.

I used to go to a shiatsu for 20 years for aches and pains and he never failed to fix me. he only spoke a few words of english cause he was Japanese and he NEVER ASKED ME WHERE IT HURT OR WHAT WAS MY ISSUE. when he passed on I really haven't found a good replacement, but accupunture seems to be another option cause I think pills and surgery shouldn't be the first go to.

enough of my babbling and wanted to say your work on the gazebo and truck looks great and maybe Pines will figure out which or who's truck it is.

cheers

Family member was a welder... he got headaches... turned out... it was from the evaporating metal coatings he was welding... something to do with "galvanized metal" or something. Prolonged exposure damaged his lungs and gave him headaches. Kind of silently...

Be careful... check your Pulse Oxygen level with one of those finger duck billed things... $20... see if you are below 95%...

I am having a great time reading through your entire thread the past few days. I can't wait to see the c10 build. It seems our trucks get put behind all the other projects. I have a pair of 72 Chevy trucks to get to and an 89 Chevy wrecker. I will probably be using that vise grip storage idea. Jim

I'm not sure but I think my arthritis has something to do with the pain, I had four vertebrae in my neck fused a couple of years ago and needed the fifth one fused but we didnt want to go there at the time. They replaced both of my knees about six months after the neck. And now they say I need three in my lower back replaced or fused. I will have insurance again next month so maybe we'll figure out something. Either way I am not going to quit.

I got pneumonia from welding galvanized steel when I was young and dumb, now I'm old and dumb but I did learn to stay away from galvanized

Jim
Welcome and thanks for reading my thread.
I'm very excited to get onto my truck projects. I have a couple of lingering projects that I'm trying to get off my plate and then it's going to happen.

I worked at the bil's place today. We dug some of the bank out at the end of his driveway to clean things up a bit
20210210_134107.jpeg
I moved about ten yards of dirt from there.
20210210_134114.jpg
To the side yard where he is trying to build up the low yard. About half of it went there. The other half went over the hill as it had roots and stone in it.
20210210_150102.jpeg
We dropped about eighteen tons of gravel and the bil is smoothing out the ridges.
20210210_150119.jpeg
He is using my box drag
20210210_150126.jpeg
I made the drag from the front bumper of a 52 chevy, it works really well.

That old tractor has moved more earth around here than most do in a lifetime, only problem is its barley more than an ag. bucket, very light weight framework. I think I missed what you were asking me in your previous post, It just dawned on me what you asked. The arcs were cut on the plas table, that was the drop from the Bud Creek farms sign I did at Christmas.
Strouty
You are right red cleans up real nice. I didnt notice the fade until I peeled the old vinyl off and it was very apparent. I'll get the correct wheels to fit my Milwaukee and give it a proper buffing this spring before it gets too hot.
