Worked on the bil's plumbing again today. I went under the house through the crawl space and pushed the pex up across the support that runs down the middle of the house. We went into the new laundry room and cut a hole in the floor to get access to the other side of the crawlspace.

I wiggled my big self down in the hole and got a visual on the pex.

If you squint real hard you can see the pex. The long curved stick is my ****** stick, I had to screw an 8' extension stick to it to reach the pex.

Did a selfie while I took a brake. Couldn't feel my left leg my back hurt so bad.

I was able to crawl out and the bil finished up some hangars. I will have to go back in tomorrow , I have a three inch sanitary line and a dryer vent to install.
I got a shower and Pat fed me, lm taking a pill and going to bed.

HJ, be careful down in that crawl space, that does not look like fun especially with back issues.
I know you said earlier you are very humid there now so that must make it all the more enjoyable. :headshake Hope your BIL appreciates it.

Thanks guys and gal.
I'm still in my recliner with the tens unit on my back. I called the bil and told him the project was on hold until further notice. My back has refused to loosen up I think it's on strike. Got a call in to Dr. Ford for an appt. he is a pain management doctor. I know that I bust my bil's balls all the time but I do know he appreciates what I do for him.

I probably mentioned this more than a few times to all you guys with back issues but I’ll do so again in case you’d like to fix your back or maybe attempt to with a pill. Inversion table hanging has kept me off pills and out of chiro offices since 2006.

I have to do one or two of those crappy plumbing and electrical crawl space jobs here so I’ll try to remember to take a few pics. All I could think of was AVE the Canadian you tube guy doing a sewer repair in his friends crawl space when I saw your pics. If you haven’t seen his vids he’s pretty entertaining and he doesn’t hold back on the Canadian kussing either.

hope you feel better soon!!

I have an inversion table. It is great, but not a complete miracle cure. When my back muscles spasm it is sheer hell to try to use it. Then only thing that helps is muscle relaxers.

Drives, my wife has an inversion table and has tried to get me on it before but I have found it uncomfortable as it pulled on my knees, she loves it and keeps coaxing me to try again. I used to go to a chiropractor that had a table that stretched your spine and I loved it. I believe in the benefit of the inversion table if I could just figure out a good way to use it. I think we are going to try it tonight.

MBW: didn’t you have one or more back surgeries? Yep inversion won’t help everyone but I personally know several guys that opted to try it instead of the scheduled surgical way and they all canceled their surgeries.
Best of luck with yours

Jim: all inversion tables are not created equal so try out a couple quality ones and see if that helps. If knees are an issue start by only inverting maybe half way so your feet are just a bit above your head and see if that helps before you go full hang like I do

I ran into an old friend of mine today that I haven't seen in several years. We talked for about an hour about what each of us had been doing. He has started another new business and it seems to be doing well.

Here is a you tube video of him. I hope you will take a look at it.

I have had one back surgery. I had 3 crushed vertebrae and I was crawling around like a dog about 7 days a month. It was not fun. The worst thing now is the nerve damage. The inversion table does help some, but not with everything.

Ok, Pat took me to the shed and hung me up on the inversion table. There were several loud pops and I felt myself get longer, the knees must be getting stronger as they didnt hurt this time.
20210703_130028.jpg

She set it to 30 deg. (For beginners)

20210703_130612.jpg

She goes full tilt and just hangs like a bat.

I'm walking better so I guess we will do round two later this evening.
The bil is giving a surprise birthday party for his gf this evening he wants me to help him cook burgers and dogs, I can do that sitting on a stool so no biggie.

Just a heads up on how much to hang. When you are only partially hanging you are probably ok with hanging more than once a day. That said the only thing my great chiro mentioned when I stopped using his services was not to full hang more than 5 minutes at a time and probably best to limit it to once a day. He said I might damage my tendons if I hang longer.
I’ve heard others say they can full hang for 20-30 minutes and they feel ok. I moved my inversion table out of our living room where I used to hand and set timer on microwave to my old office turned gym several years ago and since it usually took me 5 minutes to do a suduko puzzle I didn’t set a timer. Sad thing when I bought new suduko book that their medium puzzles took ten minutes to do I almost tore my Achilles after hanging 3 days in a row. Now even though I still do suduko puzzles while hanging 5 minutes I set my iPhone timer to 5 minutes. It did take me a few weeks when I started to hang in 2006 to build up to 5 minutes cause I was dizzy and ankle pain but even though I’m 20 pounds heavier now I haven’t had those issues again even when I skip a day or several. Good luck and hope you get some relief.

also losing 20-30 pounds would help my back a ton but like you I like pie and other sweet stuff.

enjoy your weekend!!

Glad to hear you got some relief. I think the best thing you can do is strengthen and stretch your core muscles. I think chiropractors and inversion tables are great for temporary relief, but won't cure the problem. I know from experience.

X,
I agree with you 100%. I've been doing too much too long and neglecting myself, saying I have time I'll get to me someday. I need to loose some weight and work on my core. I always had a job that required a lot of physical exertion so I never learned how to exercise correctly. Its time.

Just to add to your thinking. Some day is another word for never unless you make a goal and start. You are great at starting things for yourself and others AND finishing them so I know you’ve got it in you!! Have a fun 4th.
X: yep I didn’t want to get into exercise but planks, push ups and a ton of other workouts don’t even need a gym or weights to get in better shape. Thanks for adding that a good core (and less belly fat) is maybe the best way to help your back)

I started a Get Healthy thread in free parking when I was about to turn 60 if any or all of you want to join our group. Some of the guys exercise daily and others just post a good word or update now and again. We’ve got members with heart transplants, some that have lost 50-100+ pounds and a few like me that like to enjoy dine of the not do great tasty goods and do some exercise so we can keep of the pills snd out of hospitals.

I'm moving a bit better today. I had a black Muscadine that needed to be planted. I'm going to make a steel tree for it to grow up on.
I also planted four Watermelon plants that were given to us, the person that gave them to us said they were pepper plants, we put them on the bank and are going to let them grow down the side.
While I was at it I planted Pat's Banana tree and a Hydrangea.
I didnt push it too hard and took several brakes to cool off, it was 87/100% humidity.

I always dive back in too quickly then regret it. Don't be like me.

Got the referral today, called to make an appt. was informed that the Dr. had my papers and would review and call back in a day or two and let me know if he would take me or not. New patients are 30 days out minimum to schedule an appt.
It ***** when you want to see the best.
I'm glad Pat got in, she loves him.
Im going to find someone else.

Is hanging helping at all? It can Tahoe a few days or weeks to adjust you back in shape especially as active as you are.
I rarely go to a doctor anymore so when we found a good one his nurse said it might be a two year wait so we got on list and got in 18 months later. Luckily no emergencies in the wait time snd now we have a GOOD Doctor.
Good luck snd hope you feel better soon. Maybe slow down your working fir a few days just because.

Thanks to everyone for your concern I do appreciate the thought.
Drives,
The hanging and the tens unit have relived it some, and I haven't done very much work since I got out of the bil's crawl space. The grandaughter wants to start me on hot stone treatments.
I am going to continue to go through the steps to get to Dr. Ford as I know that I will need him in the future but it's just disheartening the negativity that you get from staff these days, both nurses that I spoke to today were almost rude that I had called to check the status of my request.
Don't count me out yet guys this isn't any worse than I have been more times than I care to remember.

Growing old ain't for sissies is my mantra, if I had a tattoo that's what it would say. Your all right, I need to get back at it.
Had a visit from my Son and his family from Montgomery Illinois today, I got to meet my two grandsons today. Nick and Tim, they are great, they collected bugs and spiders and dug rocks and Crystal's. Never once did they want to play a video game or watch TV.

They loved grandpa's shopping cart, they rode it all day.
