Cleaning out all of the unnecessary things in the basement. I'm getting close to checking this build off the list. I need to sand and put another coat of mud on the drywall today.

Then I have to get all of the metal items disassembled and over to powder coat.

I have this cart and the sink base plus Pat's Grandma's metal table and chairs that are going to be done red and white with all of the legs being a simulated chrome that actually looks more like brushed nickle.

This is going back to the shop!
I'm happy with the progress so far.

I got a very early start today, I was having my coffee at 6:00 this morning. I went to the shop and started cleaning, I almost filled a 50 gallon trash can and put a lot of things away. I didnt find my drywall tools, I suspect that they must be in the storage trailer, I'm not going in there if I have to go buy a new knife.

I sold the speedy cart today, it is going to an older man who wants it to use at his camp ground. More room in the shop.
I gave up on cleaning and worked on the golf cart this afternoon.

I got a couple of sheets of cardboard from LaserJay to see what a jeep might look like. I dont care for it.

It is way too long, so I'm going to section the frame around five inches and try again.
Just a wild thought, I see what you're saying about being too long.
The space between the B pillar and the front of the rear fenderwell opening looks too long.
At the same time, the door opening looks short.
Increasing the door opening to the rear would help both issues.
Might not cure both, but easier than sectioning the frame.

I had a great day, strawberry rhubarb gives you wings.

I sanded and got another coat of mud on all of the walls. I couldn't find either of my hand sander so I took a grout float and made another one, it was much easier than using the pole sander. I put away most of the tools that were in the truck.

Terry, I looked at moving the rear of the door opening back farther but it is at the front edge of the seat pedistal now so what I'm going to try is using some fiberglass bucket seats instead of the bench pedistal and then maybe I can open the door up some more, I'm hoping to finish the drywall and mud in a couple more days then Pat can paint and I'll get a shop day to try and sort it out. I looked at Pat's jeep and her seats are in the door opening somewhat so that may work.

That basement is looking good, real close to checking it off the list. I bet you will be glad when that happens, although I’m sure you will miss the drywall work.

Don I really liked doing drywall when I was young and didnt hurt so much, now I just get it done. Pat and I did all 98 sheets in our house. I have some really old very thin drywall knives that help me keep the mud pretty tight. I dont enjoy it any more.

Yea, right Jay, I dont miss it any more. I will be glad to check this one off the list. It's getting nice outside and that's where I need to be.

Didnt hit a lick today, Pat and I went to a couple of Estate sales and the grocery store. And just enjoyed the day.

There was a very large HO gauge train collection at the first place we went, they had a Burlington engine, coal car, and a caboose that I would like to have had but I resisted.
The rest was kind of lame stuff.
I have been looking for a corded drill for the shop,
they had three but were all only ⅜"I would like a ½". The second place was a bust.
Last week I went to one that had about 100 gum ball machines, I was helping the bil and lost my focus, I didnt get any and now I'm regretting that one, they were nine dollars each.

See if this app works in your area, I have filters set up and they email me a list of sales within 30 miles of me every week. They post pictures of the individual sales so you can get a feel for what will be there.

IF I ever get caught up, I'd love to get my HO scale set up. I'd also love to find a couple of the TYCO CanAm rail cars with the cars. I'll check that app out, thanks for the lead.

Jim, that would be a very bad site for me if I lived in a poorer city. I set a filter for sales within 5 miles of my house and there's only one estate sale. It's for an 8,200 square foot home on the water. It appears they plan to tear the place down because the sale includes the kitchen appliances and cabinets as well as all the bathroom fixtures. Lots of oriental rugs and gold framed paintings. Not a single tool to be seen anywhere.

I like that I can look at the pics before running all around the country.

Bob when I was up north I had an app where they sold everything including the house parts, I have bought doors, windows, ect. You had to bring your own tools to the sale.
I was at one once where some guy bought the staircase and all of the corbels.

Drywall is something that is surely an art form and if you do it all the time I bet most of us could be decent but it’s the once in a while jobs where you forget what you know and put on too thick and then sand and sand and sand and …

Sorry your dentist was a bust and I’m looking for a new one too. I had mine pull a couple teeth a few years ago and I bet he was sore for a week cause he wasn’t built to pull a tooth. It was either spend $6k for a root canal or live without a couple teeth until I could afford implants then they should last til they throw dirt in me. Best of luck finding a good tooth doc.

I’ve used estatesales.net for years to look/browse pics but only a couple companies sell stuff to move and rest think they are walk in ebay stores.

nice work on the basement and keep making muffins cause that jam sounds like the fountain of youth.

Thanks, Drives.

I sanded today and took a pencil to marked the blemishes. There were about a dozen small spots and the second side of a corner that needed a little mud. Tomorrow should finish up the drywall, then it's time to wipe down everything and do a thorough cleaning. Then its paint and poly time.

Hey HarleyJim, just getting caught up on your thread. All the projects are looking great!

I despise sanding drywall. One thing I found that helps is getting the low dust mud. You still need the high strength stuff for the first coats but the low dust stuff does make a difference for the later coats.

I'm probably going to regret seeing that auction app. I wonder if it works for Canada?

I got the mud sanded and two coats of paint on it today. 5 sheets of drywall and there was about ½ gallon of dust when I swept the floor,
I learned a long time ago to get the right knife and keep the mud tight.
I would like to know if that app works in Canada also, please let me know.

The area outside of the basement that consist of removing bad concrete and replacing it, building two knee walls, backfill behind the walls, grade the parking area, move the carports, install the generator and propane tank. I will have Biggen do the stucco on the house and walls.

Then the interior of the sun room, remove damaged cieling insulate and replace, install a mini split, drywall above and below the windows, trim out the windows and door. I will probably let Kaylas Dad build the cabinets that Pat wants for storage he runs the cabinet shop that Pat's ex ownes they do great custom work.
Then there is a little maintenance and touch up to the paint inside of the house, it was built and painted in 2012 so there are a couple of cracks and nail pops and one area in the kitchen where the roof leaked.
Not a bad list,
Out back I need to build two block walls at the cellar and grade that area and behind the shop. Then I'm pretty much done!!!

I think all of you are giving me more credit than I am due. I would be ecstatic to be done by August. I want so bad to just go play in my shop.

I still have some trim to cut and poly at the closet and door. I have two spots in the drywall to fix. The cieling trim is done. So another long day tomorrow but I'm really happy with all of it.

There is nothing in Eastport Maine worth seeing unless its marine or sardine related. :)
