Didnt get any work done today, too much running to do. I went to an estate sale today to look at a 3 point tiller they listed. It will be sold tomorrow at auction, I'm going back to see if I can get it.
We left the sale and came home through Benton, we wanted to stop at Steelwheel corner for lunch.

They did a soft opening this weekend so we had to try it out.


The building was an actual Esso gas station years ago, it sat empty for years until they bought it three years ago and started remodeling it.

There was no roof, doors, or windows when they started.

They have a nice place, I am hoping they do good and make it.

Yes, it was a real good burger, there classic is a ⅓lb with fries or tots for $9, they use a brioche type bun, the deluxe is ½lb at $12, I'm going back!

I went to an auction today, looking for a three point tiller, it sold for more than I was willing to pay. They auctioned the farmland first, almost 60 acres with one 3br ranch style house and 3 barns sold for $1,170,000,00. It was subdevided into aprox 6 acre lots. Another family farm down the tubes because one of the kids wanted there part of the money right now.
I sold Pat's Jeep today, the Man came from Maryville Tn. It was in way better shape than he thought it would be, he said he has looked at some really bad Jeeps in the past month.

Now to sell my F250 Superduty!

After the superduty is gone all I'll have is my GMC and Pat will have her F150 and Willie and pelly will still be walking!
Beside, you were the first to actually show up and kick the tires.
I'm actually hoping to get started on my 64 this year.

I'm thinking about buying this to use in the garden.

Any tractor guys have an opinion.
It's got a Kohler 16 hp.

Definitely not a tractor girl. But, I've bought a few tractors. I used to plow the garden at my old place with 12hp Cub Cadet. So, it probably could do it once. Price seems a bit high. Rusty, and no deck. Maybe offer $500, if it runs exceptionally well, the tiller runs well, and you can demo it in sod. That thing's probably a late 70's Kohler flathead. Running a tiller beats engines. Even Kohler doesn't make an eternal engine.

I've been looking at 6' three point tillers for the big tractor but they are sky high so I'm rethinking this.

Kirk I dont own the tractor so I'm cautious on buying something that expensive, but I still may! I'm just not sure yet.

Don, I thought about a mini front end loader that would be cool!

I'd check on parts availability first. I'm partial to pre-'81 IH Cub Cadets (before MTD bought CC), they still supply parts, although even they are "NLAing" more each year. I'm not sure who the parts source would be for an AC. Note - I might be biased a little as a 20 some year member of the IHCubCadet forum.

Well, scooterbum, it became a moot point this afternoon! I was to text him when I was ready to leave, and I saw it listed as sold.


I have learned not to count my chickens!
This happens alot on marketplace, somebody got there before me and this was his out,
So the search is still on.
As for obsolete parts, it's a big lawn tractor!
My other bil (Pickle) brought his push mower over and we welded a bunch of cracks in the deck and added a round rod to the bottom perimeter, that had to be the thinnest mower deck I have ever seen.
He brought the driveshaft from his square body also and we put new u-joints in it.

speaking of counting chickens we got any hatchlings? when are they due?

Bugnut I have to take the rotator out today.

That's the plastic rack the eggs are setting in.

This is done three days before hatch day, which is Friday, or it could be Saturday if they decide to wait! They take 21 days to hatch but depending on conditions it can be 20 to 22 days. So you just plan on day 18 and day 21.

I have them set up with extra water to get the humidity up to 60%. I had the shop door open today so the blanket is for a wind block.

I put a blink camera on it so if there is movement it will sound an alarm on my phone. hopefully I will catch some hatching on video!

Pat was feeding the girls yogurt, a couple of them are a little loose.


I moved the trucks and graded the driveway today, the weeds needed a haircut.

Spring cleaning has started.
I'm really thinking about using Kirk's idea with the spread sheet, to list all of the little things that need to be finished.

The Dogwoods are blooming, and it's supposed to frost tonight! Go figure!!!

WE have about a week left for the turkey eggs that Ann put in her incubator. We have 4 turkeys mixed in with about 40 chickens and Ann wants more turkeys for some reason. But I'm not the one to argue with her over that lol

I'm really thinking about using Kirk's idea with the spread sheet, to list all of the little things that need to be finished.

I used to do that. I think I need to start that up too.

My spread sheet was sorted by maintenance, repairs, and fun projects.
I had a the amount of time that I would think it would take to complete. But there were only four choices. 1/4,1/2,3/4, 1 day.
There was also a column for items needed to start-finish the task/job.

While it seems awfully ****. It worked really well. I found that I was finishing a lot of jobs listed at 1/4 in one day. The column with the the needed parts turned into a shopping list.

Don, I used to raise bourbon reds, but I dont have the room here, they are such a proud bird. My neighbor asked me to incubate some duck eggs, I have to get the proper rotator for them.

Lenny, I dont know what format I will follow but there are just a bunch of little things that seem to slip through the cracks, I have three pieces of trim to put on the back porch, outside, from about five years ago! Its here, but I dont think about it until I'm mowing and see it. I'm going to compile a punch list to start with then try to put a timeline to it.

I have a sheet for every major item (the Girlfriend, Smooth, the ducks, the Old Mule, the She Shed, the yard....) , and break them down into as much detail as I can. Then the "Big Sheet" has the major milestones of each project loosely prioritized. It also has a monthly break down of when I hope to do what. There's a daily column that I update once a week to try to keep me on track. Does it work? So-so. But when a cell is turned gray, boy does that feel SO GOOD!

I don't know if I'll ever get that deep into it but I have to do something. When I ran the shop for the city of Cleveland I had a huge dry erase board behind my desk so everyone that came into my office saw the list. It took about 16 months to eliminate the list but it became a game with the mechanics!

I had a busy day today, first thing I started on was to finish the two outside outlets on the porch, but I was thrown a curve ball right off the bat, a buddy called and said he dropped a frame at the powder coat shop to get coated but it needed the trans mounts cut off.

This alone wouldnt have prompted me to stop what I was doing but Josh called and said he was headed my way with a load of top soil so I had to go get the tractor to move my dump trailer so I grabbed the frame while I was there.


I need to fill a bunch of holes in the yard and seed. It's almost too late to seed.

I got back to the frame.

I got the offending mounts cut off and ground the welds clean. The frame is a 55 Chevy convertible, the body is at a fiberglass shop, the glass shop is going to pull a mold of the body, they want to market a glass 55 convertible. I moved my dump trailer back behind the shop, grabbed the frame and headed back to the powder coat shop. I started spreading dirt, it's supposed to rain tomorrow and I thought I would get some seed down, one trailer of dirt changed my mind, and I went back to the shop and started working on the gate operator again, I did get a bunch done although I was all over the place!

Mr zippy, thank you, that truck will stay with me for the rest of my life.

Years ago I ran the maintenance shop for the town of Montgomery Il. I had to purchase all of the vehicles, so I got to know the boys at the GMC dealership very well. Every two years one of there customers would trade in his truck for a new one, the salesman would call me and let me know, I would call my Dad and tell him, he would go buy the truck for my Mom, then I would buy my Moms old truck.

When I moved to Tennessee I was driving this 95 chevy, Dad passed and Mom moved back to Arkansas, I always joked with my Mom that when she bought a new truck I would get the old Red one! Well Mom passed and left me the truck, So.

Nice story to go with the truck! I think someday that generation/style will be as popular as the 67-72’s. I helped my son with his 91 single cab regular cab. It was 4 wheel drive and we put a 2 inch lift on it…..larger tires, etc. pretty GM blue color. Just a nice little truck. Only thing that could have been better would be the step side box. Thanks for the pics!

If I dont get the seed out soon it wont have time to establish a root system before the summer heat will cook it. I wanted to do this last fall but the porch project had my attention.
Yesterday I did get a bunch done, the frame job wasn't on the list but I had to get the tractor so it saved time by just doing it, Scott will pay for it, he always dose.

No, fatboy got retired, I bought a Roadking and had to get a new plate. Now I dont ride so I had to get yet another plate.


The Eggs
I went to the shop about an hour ago to check on them and there is noise coming from inside of some of them, I expect to see one or two by tomorrow!
It's amazing to pick up an egg and feel something moving and hear something inside. Some of them actually chirp or as it's actually called pipping.

I spent the day running errands so I didnt get much work done. I did buy two peach trees and two plumb trees and a bunch of other flowers and such!

I did get the two peach trees planted.

They were in the shop until an hour ago, we have storms coming in tonight so I moved them to the back porch where I'll have generator power, just in case.

Seven out, two are still wet, several eggs have a pip hole in them so were doing good so far.

Bob you have to be ready, some hot chicken nuggets would be tasty! Pat's cleaning drawers and cabinets, that stuff is going to the lodge tomorrow.

I had to go to Sweetwater today, along the way Pat found this.

I asked the guy if he had a tiller to fit it.

He asked me to follow him, I guess he dose have one or two!
He made a nice opening price, I'm going to counter offer tomorrow.
