We use Advion Ant gel. Got it from our exterminator but can be bought online under $15.

Comes in a syringe....I usually put out a half inch line where I see them. Can be put on woodwork without any damage.
Best stuff I've ever used.

That must be what we use. I need to order some more soon. We just do pea size drops for a couple days. Might try more next time.

Jeff, when we bought this house we pulled what was left of the drywall out, while the walls were open we caulked and plugged every crack and hole we could find, we added blocking, we went overboard, and they still find a way in, its just a spring thing I guess. They did have an ant trail across the kitchen floor, if you drag your finger across that line they are lost and can't find there way anymore. That was my revenge until Pat got the mop and bleach water after them, Lol.
Cane, legenddc, I have used that before and it works great, the granddaughter is here with her dog so I can't use it now.
Lenny, they could be!

Its been two days and no ants!

It says once dry it's safe, if you want to take the chemical companies word for it 🤷

I don't like to spray anything where the animals can get. I also hand pick a really good distance worth of weeds around all our fruit trees so I don't get to close with any type of weed sprays. Anything that we all eat, just not taking the risk no matter what the bottle might say.

Day 5 and they found a hole in my caulk, right where I rounded the corner. I trimmed it and filled it. Dang ants🐜.
My caulk looks sloppy in this pic.
But on to bigger and better things, when I bought this house the only thing I hired out was the metal roof, it has leaked in several places ever since Day one. The contractor went into hiding and couldn't be found so I've been taking it apart and fixing it myself, well, Wednesday the guest bedroom ceiling was wet, I'll be taking the metal off and repairing that, time to go buy supplies for that job!

Well! I was able to get back to the shed today, I spent the whole day back there alone with the radio blasting, it was a good day.

20230430_172756.jpg
I got all of the blocking and bracing finished.
20230430_172737.jpg
I will need to trim the rafter Tails to 9", the metal measured out to 9¼" overhang.
20230430_172817.jpg
The weather will decide when the metal goes on, it's supposed to be windy tomorrow,
The plan is if it's not windy we are going to set up scaffolding and pull the metal off the front of the house and fix the leak. If it's windy I will probably work on the shed, we'll see!

Went to take a shower about 11:30 last night! Only cold water!! Went to the basement and the breaker was tripped, reset and pop! Cold showers are not fun.
20230502_121540.jpg
I checked it out this morning, the lower element and the thermostat were bad, luckily I had a tune up kit in stock, drained, replaced the parts and back in service.
20230502_173711.jpg
Then I went to Donnies with a load of new parts for the yerf dog,I found a place online called SuperGY6 he specializes in the yerf dog go karts but the motors are the same. He makes an 11 pole 3 phase stator that puts out around 25 watts of power, stock is around 3! Plus he custom builds a wiring harness for the kart but it fit my truck just fine.
20230502_174504.jpg
I had to buy a new flywheel but that was only 20 bucks. This will let me put a larger battery and accessories, like a winch and lights, there is also a linear actuator for the dump body.
20230502_174541.jpg I'll need to do some wire maintenance and tidy things up but it runs fine.
20230502_173702.jpg
Donnie cleaned the carb, the float was stuck.
I drove it about ½ mile down the road and it sputtered a bit, I'll fill the tank and add some sea foam and it should be fine. It will do what I need to do with it. Now to put the body back on it.

This thing had to have been exposed to salt somehow, we cut wires back to find good wire and never found any. I thought the stator update was a good idea, I can pull fence with a winch, and an electric dump would be cool. Pat is even excited about being able to use it to pick up sticks in the yard. And you have to have lights, don't know why but you got to have a lot of lights!

I had a Dr appointment today so while I was in town I picked up some fuel line, a battery, and some paint for the yerf dog, I think it's supposed to rain this weekend so I'll spend some time in the shop.
I have spent the last two days building a dog box with Josh, he has a two week hunt coming up and has been wanting a new box so he can take more dogs.
20230504_194806.jpg
So he went and picked up some supplies.
20230504_192457.jpg
It's a 1" angle iron frame.
20230504_192532.jpg
It will have treated deck lumber on the top, A dog will stand on top so we don't want to use metal it gets hot.
20230504_192700.jpg
The cage detaches from the headach rack, so when Josh isn't hauling dogs it is a flatbed.
20230504_192602.jpg
In cold weather there will be plastic panels that slide in the side tracks and will keep the wind off the dogs. When he gets back we will make any changes that need to be done then it all goes to powder coat alongwith the front bumper, right now he's thinking satin black!

AZ, Josh has to get the dogs off his truck every time it moves, they like to ride.
Kirk, I'm thinking a couple of fastners through the bed floor right now, I'm still hoping for a better Idea!
If he had some pockets on the sides of the bed, you could weld some stakes to the sides so it attached to the stake pockets.

Welder, we talked about that, they take these trucks in some really rough places, he wants to keep the rail slick so he doesn't snag trees. They have cut trees to get into places!
The side pocket was my first suggestion and, I was going to make a rack hanging off the back for a cooler but he said it would get crushed so the cooler goes inside with the dogs.

Kirk, yep! What I have to deal with is five quarter deck lumber.
It has a small perimeter frame around the edge but not a lot of steel.
Bob, I have those in stock but I'm afraid with the terain he is driving through those would pull out of the wood. I'm still afraid that he is going to flex the frame enough to brake the flatbed.
I think I have an idea, I have been looking at it all day as I worked on my yerf dog, I have to add some gussets to the corners or it will flex and brake, I'll get some pics tomorrow.

Josh took Brently to his motocross race today.

He did good but didn't place.
Screenshot_20230506_221329_Facebook.jpg
Anyway they were gone today so I worked on my stuff.
I stripped and primed a plant stand for Pat, then I cleaned up the wiring on the YD.
20230506_195601.jpg
I still have to weld a couple of studs to the frame to mount the rectifier to, then I can paint.
20230506_195618.jpg
I put in a larger battery so I had to move it, you can see the rust mark to the right of the battery, that's where the old battery sat, it was tiny. I bought a gallon of satin black to paint the frame and floorboard, hopefully I'll get it painted tomorrow.

I had a busy day today,
20230507_162754.jpg
Pat had an idea for a planter that she wanted, we bought this table at a junk store for three dollars, she wanted it yellow, all I had was JD yellow.
20230507_184124.jpg
I told her if it was too bright, to buy a rattle can and we would tone it down.
20230507_162740.jpg
I finished my corn planter.
A friend wanted to borrow some scaffolding so we loaded three sections, they stayed for a bit then I got to work on the shed for a while.
20230507_174227.jpg
I have a stack of bead board sheets that I took out of the back porch when we did the remodel.
20230507_174243.jpg
I thought it would add to the look of the shed roof.
20230507_174237.jpg
I'm only doing this side, the other side will be closed off and not be seen.
It's time to take the food off the grill and eat, a gust of wind just blew through and knocked the power out, so it looks like grill by candlelight tonight!

Another busy day.
20230508_114159.jpg
Josh came over this morning and we put the metal on the shed roof.
Then we went for lunch, came back and worked on his dog box until 5:30, then I got a shower and went to lodge, I made a deal for 200 tomato plants and 50 Bobwhite quail. Should get the plants in a couple of days, the eggs went in the incubator four days ago, they should hatch 19 days from now, pick them up four days later. May 30th. The guy bought 1000 eggs to hatch, he has the capacity for 4000 eggs at one time.
Got to see the Doc in the morning, and a couple stops after that. Then I hope to finish the dog box and clean up the shed area.

Had a busy day today.
20230510_135939.jpg
I got tired of chargers laying all over the bench so I fixed them.
20230510_180514.jpg
We finished Josh's dog box, Donnie is about 3 weeks out on powder coating so we put a coat of rattle can on it to keep the rust down.
20230510_184728.jpg
Josh had to get some of his dogs and test drive it.
received_934364557617022.jpeg
He had nine dogs loaded and still lots of room.
The third from the left is my favorite 🐕.

Bob as usual you are right on the mark. I turned 65 today. In 1958 May 11th was on Mother's Day, Mom always said I was her best gift.
I spent the day doing yard work, Pat took my truck to Jimmy's muffler shop in Dayton this morning and had the flowmasters taken off and stock mufflers put back on it, She told Jimmy I was finally growing up, he laughed!
It still makes just a little noise but I can hear the radio now.
