Had to take a break from the house, Pat isn't feeling well so I'm keeping things quiet up there, Donnie is making deliveries for the PC shop so I get to play in my shop for a bit.

I have been wanting to build a new welding table for quite a while, I have collected enough stuff to get started, so today I took apart my old table. I built it about eight years ago as a temporary table to build some handrails! Man what a mess!20240130_134809.jpg
Gone.

Looks like an adult beverage "stove" condenser in the making with several donor flasks/vessels in the back ground. They look like stainless steel. What are they originally used for?

Sorry guys I've been a little under the weather lately. I haven't touched my welding table, but we did make some progress on the trike.

We have the basic frame layout roughed out, now we're refining things.

Once we got a fork built the rest followed, lol! I'm hoping I get to feeling better in a few days, the weather has been in the 60s and I would much rather be outside.

Thank you guys, I gave in to Pat and went to the walk in clinic this morning, got all the test run, I have a sinus infection, got a bottle of antibiotics, some nose 👃 spray, and a steroid shot in the ****. I left the clinic and went to wally world to get my scrips and headed home, then I get a 911 call from the bil, he cut his leg with a chain saw, I did 125 down 64 hoping to pick up a cop, but no luck. I picked him up at the utilities company, applied a pressure dressing threw him in the truck and headed back into town.

The next picture is a bit ******, full disclosure!

The Dr. questioned if it was a chain saw being so clean of a cut, I told her I gave him a new blade yesterday so it was razor sharp, only 20 stitches to close it, he got lucky. I just got home, Pat has supper ready, I'll check back soon.

The work being done is at my lodge, this last pic is pretty much the whole parking lot, the land to the left is ours but is basically a hole, so we are filling it and making more parking. Dude, the bil was cutting small sucker trees behind the building where he lost his footing and fell, the saw hit his leg as he was falling!

Jim: i'm wondering if there is anything you can't drive or fix that has an engine on it? always good to check in on your doings cause you are busier than a .....

I recall a small tree falling the wrong direction when I was cleaning out a fence line at one of our rentals a 100 years ago and my son who was close to me helping got nicked on the arm with my chainsaw. it didn't seem nearly as bad as the one you are showing, but we didn't go to the local clinic and drove to our ER and they gave my son I think 45 stiches. they did have to do a ton of cleaning cause after he got cut he put his dirty glove over the cut before I could get him a clean wet rag to hold on it til we reatched our ER.

take care and keep up the great work and hope that cut heals quickly.

I am getting better Kirk, I went to my Doc today, got another bag of pills, he is testing me for allergies, I can't breath through my nose, if it isn't allergies then he said he will send me to a nose Doc.
We had a fun time at the lodge Monday night!
20240212_184322.jpg
Got there for practice and the pop off valve on the water heater decided to popped off! There was 1½" of water in the lodge. We had 12 Men with shop vacs and squeegees work from 6:30 to 10:30 cleaning it up. I get to meet the contractors at 8:00 in the morning!
I got to work on the three wheeler today.
20240214_171524.jpg
We have a rolling chassis! We're going to disassemble it and weld out the frame tomorrow.

We stripped the three wheeler and welded the frame, it is done. Now we will start refining our jigs and fixtures so we can duplicate the frame parts.
No work today, I have had meetings with the contractor and the insurance company for the lodge, I have one more then I have to go to Athens and take care of family business there, I hate meetings!

OK I hit a milestone victory yesterday!!!
20240221_172832.jpg
Yes, yes that's the pad for the generator! Originally it was going to set to the right, where it would be under the carport but it had to be more than 10' from the tank so I had to dig up the copper and the conduits and move them, now the ground has settled and the concrete crew will be here in about three weeks to pour the 36'x 10' patio to finish this area. Slow progress but progress nevertheless!

I can't wait to get this little job finished, we have been without power anywhere from 10 hrs to 3 day several times.
This one was on a house in the city so it's set for natural gas, I'll be running it on propane. My buddy is an electrical contractor, he has an employee that is factory trained on generac, he said when I get it on the pad to call him and he will take care of the rest. When I updated my service to 400 Amp I installed the disconnect panel and a new breaker panel so half of it has already been finished. I'm hoping to set the unit on monday.

How long will you be able to run on Generac Power for days or just fire it up for a few hours get the house warm the fridges cool and then shut down the power again.
No idea on Jim's setup, but my buddy in Kentucky went a couple of weeks on his after the Mayfield tornadoes a couple years back.
His whole house setup runs off of a dedicated 500 gallon propane tank.

Sub, I'm like Buffett fan, I'm thinking a week or two, I have a 250 gallon dedicated tank, the only other propane appliance that we have is the cook stove in the basement that Pat uses for canning,

Kirk, you know how long this project has been hanging over my head, I will be so glad to Finnish this one.

Terry, I would have thought you would have been in Kentucky by now. They have the greatest.....water there!

Jim, just taking care of the parents.
They'll be 86 and 90 this year, still in their own home with a little assistance.
As long as it's safe for them, I'll stick it out.
I've told them when they need assisted living, we're ALL moving south!

Yeah, our favorite area in KY seems to be a tornado magnet.
And real estate has quintupled in price.
Our target area has expanded...

Terry, your doing the right thing, keep on doing what you do Brother 👍.

Ford, we are in the same tornado track that Terry spoke of in Kentucky, a couple of years ago we had tornado episodes about a year apart from each other, we lost power the first time for around 16 days and the second was about 10 days. It was like camping at home, we fired up all of the grills in the neighborhood and cooked all the meat as it thawed, we lived out of coolers, just like camping! I don't want to do that anymore.

We got all of the estimates in and the members decided they want to do the repairs themselves (translation, Jim and Pat just got another job). We scheduled a workday for Saturday, four men showed!

This is what they decided the floor should look like. This is traditionally what all masonic lodges should look like.

Jim, I haven't had a dream about patterned floors for about 60 years. When my parents decided to finish the basement in 1956, Dad decided we needed a shuffleboard court -- a 12-foot long one. Had to cut the asbestos/asphalt tiles to fit the shuffleboard patterns and lines and it was rarely a one cut fit. We did learn to make the cuts a little generous (measure once, cut twice). I don't know how I've survived this long -- the siding on the house was asbestos shingles (not golf- or baseball-proof) and the steam pipes in the basement were wrapped with corrugated asbestos insulation. We 'heated' the basement for free in winter by removing the asbestos insulation and 'cooled' it in summer with a dehumidifier. The pan under the dehumidifier overflowed almost daily until we punched a hole in the floor and made a dry well.

Good luck laying that pattern out! That and the work involved looks like a lot of work. Did you already do one of those floors, that doesn't look like your lodge in the finished photo?
