That cab is in amazing condition Jim.
Is the tach electric or mechanical?
I had a '65 big window in H.S.
The rockers were completely gone and the floor wasn't far behind.
I lost a lot of 8-track tapes out of the holes.
Looking forward to watching this one come together.

Jim :
My dad bought a '70 Ranger XLT new the latter part of '70. It had the 360 / Cruisomatic combo. Dad was a retired Machinist, but had many many more years wrenching Fords. He was so disappointed in the 360 that by the summer of '72 it had a Mallory ignition, ****** headers and an Edlebrock 4 barrel manifold topped with a Quadrajet (my cousin was an Olds engineer and supplied us all the secondary metering rods we could ever want to try). I might have been an influence on this (I was 22 and a little bit into drag racing LOL). It was still somewhat of a dog on the low end, but it was really into it's own once above about 40 MPH.

The color combo was a yellow/cream, had cream colored bucket seats, we found that a Chevy Blazer flip lid console fit pretty well, he topped it off with a Sears 8 track and later a CB radio. I looked for a picture, I'm away from home for the winter, but did snag this, hope you won't mind, (he won't, he's been gone since '92).

Welcome and please post your pics here. This thread is not about me. It's about community, old trucks, and if were luckey a smile or two.
I see you are a snow bird, if you go north on 75 when headed back to Michigan you'll be passing by, wave when you pass Cleveland Tn. Thanks, Jim

Had to bail out a buddy last night. He dropped this box that belongs to his new wife, it was made for her by an Uncle when she was a little girl

I just took the tach out to see.
It is electric and has all 3 settings 4,6,8
I dont know what the tach came out of but someone made a couple of cuts on the back to make it fit and it's a good fit so I will see if it will fire up. It may be that it's in the wrong side after doing a google search. I think it's worth fixing at this point. Now I need to find the clock to go in the other side.
I think I still have an 8track in the basementc64165cef4ff3e58849aa3b2c9b79596.jpg0a058a788032ba156839cc714aaa5776.jpg7fc7fd992ced44dfd13ac1d27fb9345c.png

Well things have been a little slow here all of this rain is making everything damp including my ambition.
I am still trying to finish the trailer and just not feeling it right now.
I repotted all of the seedlings this morning most of them are looking good, several of my pepper varieties failed some I harvested from peppers that were given to me by a cousin last year and some were new seeds, replanted and try again.
The trees are starting to bud and all of the wild lilies are blooming.
I picked a gallon of dandelions on monday and made some wine, it should be good in about a month.
That's about it for today guess it's time for a little peach.

I havent been in the shop much lately, I have been trying to get the yard finished. We trenched in a lot of services last year and added some sidewalks so I got a trailer load of top soil and got busy. Had to get a stump out of the way also.4169e3f221f8e88dae982f72a1ebbb00.jpg930d2c887c3ca33a452725caaa3f85f3.jpg36f003f968132b1f931c2822bd1d87cb.jpgdcd04ff67ca806449df6fd6fa289a576.jpg35dd33686e3b23c079bd23b2b72dfca5.jpg5ae5f1c4db6409d395440ca85ec2a31c.jpg

Jim: for some reason I thought you were making that wheelbarrow into fenders by cutting it in half and you made a dump trailer out of it. nicely done!!

Yep I have to chime in too that I like the tailgate a lot.

great job cutting, digging and burning out that old tree stump. just curious if you leave stumps in your ground in your part of the world do they fill up with Carpenter ants like ours or do you maybe get termites or do tell?

keep up the good work and thanks for sharing!!

I needed a way to haul top soil around the yard, it is so wet here the tractor sinks and makes the yard worse. I have a stash of wheelbarrows so I took two and cut them in half off center and welded them back together making a very wide wheelbarrow body which I welded to an old motercycle trailer that I had stashed. It is balanced very well and dumps great. I will use it a lot around here.d874ec0c06a61ab2c371ec61edce7559.jpg0acb260c85fc0b9a6b60096c6594ffef.jpg6e6f45ac2064f2fe1b6667f6db44dd4d.jpg

That's the plan as soon as I can go to the paint store. The Governor made it mandatory to stay home.
Think the cops would believe me if I told them JD paint was a necessity. LOL.
Seriously I am going to try to go to lowes tomorrow morning and get some copper water tubing and drainage pipe, maybe they will have some spray paint.

I missed part of your question and woke up with it on my mind
We have both here the carpenter ants were attacking my back porch last week and when I cut a piece out of the stump the termites were at it.

Hi Jim, I just found your thread and I'm impressed. It looks great.

Is that a different tree burning than the one you have on "pull up a chair "thread?

Hi dlcwent
Thank you and thanks for stopping by.
Yes it is, the stump that I'm burning now reminded me of the tree that caught fire a couple of years ago. It was really funny how it happened and pretty scary at first but worked out ok. The big tree was next door.

Had another go at burning the stump tonight, it was beautiful sitting around the fire with Pat and Kayla had an adult beverage or two and let it burn listed to a little Joe Diffie.dd219c7839ea890d3a7897d3c788cb5a.jpg

The garden is coming together really well, I had to adjust the tines on the tiller this morning it was leaving a 4" strip down the center. [emoji106] Its working great now and the soil is drying out well, no more mud balls it's starting to powder up nicely.
The seeds that we saved up over the winter sprouted and are growing well. I pick the best looking veggies that we buy at road side markets and such and save and dry the seeds this is what I like to plant. I do buy some seeds but as I get back into this I will harvest my own seeds.ab7d45ea64e964cd2f8f074cdfa8e427.jpg9d8ae64891cbf49e3c7fa17fa03ba6a9.jpg2100f216cbe2e90f8d50bbf120da4e99.jpg504db7b48faf13c14a82103a198898d0.jpg

I would like to be in the shop working on one of my trucks right now, its killing me but the plants said it's time to plant me. I have been trying to get some catalogs together for the ford so I can order a few things but they have suspended catalogs for the time being, a new sign of our times.
Thanks for stopping in.

Hi Jim
Was sitting here today with nothing to do so I thought it a good time to go thru your thread and get to know you a bit better.

I like your garage and your many projects. I like the wheel barrow dump trailer
and the yard art you showed in your flower bed.

We have a lot in common so I'll be dropping by often

Like you I'm locked behind my gate and enjoying my garage time (never on Sunday)

Hi Jim, Just found this thread. Great place you got there. Hopefully in about 7 more years I'll be moving that direction. I wish I could do a catch basin like you did but if I dug a hole that close to the road they would throw me in jail up here.
As others have said I really like that bench, may have to copy that idea.

Wow! Great pick-up. I had a 72 and I loved it! I sold it to build a tree house for my kids and then ended up buying a Chevy. I got a ton of compliments about that pick-up.

I'm so far out in the sticks that they dont really care what I do. I waved at the county crew a couple times while I was doing it, they stopped once to chat and I got them to cut a 24" cedar tree that was close to the road, I got 3 sections about 10, 12 ft long out of it. They are going to the saw mill this summer. I hope you can find the grit to pull the trigger and get out of there, I was in chicago for 43 years and felt out of place all 43 of it. Thanks for checking in. Jim

I love my trucks, we have way too many but that's what we do, we are not the vacation type, or party people.
I need to show them a bit8fb706c7cce2f14286c4a6428eba5ad7.jpg
I just bought the 70 it's an XLT Ranger fully loaded 390/C6 p/s p/b air that still works, we are thinking Black on Black with some red accents on the inside for now.

My Wife Pat's 73 CJ5 304 V8/3 speed it is a survivor with 6,7000 original miles, pat used to race Jeeps semi pro back in the day so she has to have one around.
e26b7650465d73acb2135e9d4aef45a6.jpg
Then there is my 97 GMC 350/auto special edition it was my Mothers and is a survivor all original except the flomasters and full duals out the back, it has 8,7000 original miles.

My poor old Dodge Ram 1500 4.7 V8/auto I bought it new at Prebul Dodge in 2005 about 3 months before they were closed for tax evasion it's kind of the bad boy outcast work horse of the fleet. It has 104,000 original miles

Then there is the 64 Chevy, it is in the fab shop now, It is under the knife so to speak. It is getting a 1995 Tahoe 4x4 chassie with a 454 V8/4l60e auto, we are not settled on colors yet Pat wants white with purple interior, and I would like Root Beer with a brown interior. Whatever colors it gets there will be power windows, 6 way power buckets from a 2005 Navigator, and lots of bling on this one.

This is just an inspiration picture this is what the 64 should resembled when its done.

That's about it on trucks since I had a new neck and knees installed I cant get in and out of cars so I have sold most of them and working on selling the spare parts
That was kind of long winded but I have been wanting to list the trucks, thanks for the opportunity.

I just started the 64 you havent missed anything it was moved to what I refer to as the fab shop about two weeks ago post #113.
I had intended to be working on it already but some other things got in the way then this virus changed the garden plans from a few pots to a full blown garden with a full fence to keep out the smaller critters, I'm sure the deer and bears will not have a problem with it.
The truck changed also since I bought the 70 ford, I had a stock frame and got a 72 frame with 5 bolt power disc brakes and power steering to convert the stock frame to a better 2WD chassis. So now it gets 4x4 instead.
Pat is a very big part of our trucks she will buy twice as many as I would. She enjoys them as much as I do and is not afraid to get dirty. She is also a certified ISCA judge although she doesn't really like judging cars. She uses it when we build knowing what others will call fowl on.

Worked on the back yard all day again today, I have come to realize that I have a lot of ****.
I took the backhoe and dropped the back corner of the garden about 20" there was a big hump there and I didn't think I could get the fence to close the gap that big pile of dirt in the back is what I took out. I finished cleaning the **** that was piled behind the garden and staged it with the rest going to scrap yard.
I leveled the dirt around the hobbit house and put down seed and straw.
The silver box is a shipping container for a machine that was given to me. It is going to be the new garden shed. Finally going to get all of the shovels and rakes out of my shop. This I have needed for a long time.
Pat made me a Double George Dickle and Coke, sat and admired my work and drank my drink.6903be2a42125f0a5c0574b32507a663.jpga0aecfe63556527c912e49eade2e9feb.jpgd4915733b2d7311c87259085a3ff3869.jpg3ecaa5a7f320ad24dc3a7f8ecc10548e.jpge73ce9c69ad413a2c664a25d34ca3b79.jpg

You and your bride have a great eye for the overall development of your property. Your shop really 'ties the place together'.

Had a white 64 chevy pickup when I was 20, I'm gobsmacked by the tachometer, I had no idea!

Thank you so much.
The property was a bank repo and had sat empty for years, the people that lost the house took the kitchen out with a chain saw, I think they were upset and had to let off some steam. It took Pat and me 11 months to redo the house it was a mess. I will post the house someday.
The tach got me also, never seen one before. I told a friend about buying the truck and what my plans were he told me to stop at his shop some day he had something to show me, I stopped and he gave the dash cluster to me on the condition that I use it.
