I am on a mission to get the house and grounds finished. I truly want to retire but until all of this is done I cant rest. I want to check off all my boxes then I can relax and build my trucks.
The house was a bank repo and was in pretty bad shape when we bought it but it's almost finished[emoji106]

I had to laugh. I went back to look at your last pictures and saw the folding chair next to some dirt work. My first thought was that you had the boss watching you work but then I thought of my shop and my sanding of the lub station and there is a folding chair in front of the box where I would sit and catch my breath about every 15 minutes. Getting old is not for sissies

I spent 9 hours sorting stuff in the shop. I'm getting frustrated that I have things in there that I know I have but I have to go buy it again. Pat and I started cleaning this morning. Only problem is I was so tired I didn't take an after pic. I did find all of my caps and rings for my Corvette rallys, now I need to post them for sale.20191121_152152.jpeg20191121_152228.jpeg20200517_135923.jpeg20200517_140033.jpeg

With regards to that second pic, I always found it worked better for me if the parts drawers in the parts cabinets faced out towards me. How does your technique work for you?

I finished the basic build on my box drag today. I used a 51 or 52 chevy 3 piece front bumper, cut the center section out and welded the ends together. Added a box to put a concrete block in for extra weight. I mounted a set of wheels for transporting. Took it out for a test run and it worked really well. I'll add a cable and pully to the handle so I can raise and lower it from the mower.20200518_122835.jpeg20200518_164644.jpeg20200518_164650.jpeg20200518_164608.jpeg20200518_165317.jpeg20200518_165320.jpeg20200518_170549.jpeg20200518_171446.jpeg

Got some more done on the hood today, had to go to Donnies and help take the tractor apart, the trans case is cracked and is leaking very bad. I use the tractor as much as he dose so I need to help keep it running. When it is done we are going to build a new road to the blast house so the boys can get the lift trucks from there to the powder coat shop. Didn't get pics of the tractor today had a brainfart. 20200509_191609.jpeg20200520_122953.jpeg20200520_165639.jpeg20200520_123008.jpeg

We finnished disassembly of the tractor today. Took the case to the shop so it can be cleaned, blasted, and cooked in one of the ovens to purge as much of the oil out as we can. Then we will inspect it and decide how best to fix it. Now I'm back on the mower hood, I sanded the primer and marked about four spots that need a little attention. Then another coat of primer. I know this sounds extreme for a mower hood but it's just the way I'm made, I cant help myself.[emoji2357]20200521_113036.jpeg20200521_113105.jpeg20200521_113049.jpeg20200521_113056.jpeg20200521_113100.jpeg

Your not alone. A little extra effort prevents frustration of 'should have' after its done.

Yea it can be quite the long process but if your happy with the end result then it is worth it. Can't wait to see your final work.

I got a new battery for Pat's Jeep, the hold down was partly missing and had a bungee ******** it, so I made a new hold down and put it together correctly.
Pat raced Jeeps back in the day and always wanted to fix up her last race Jeep and put it back on the street. Her brother called me one day and said he saw one on a car lot for sale so I bought it. I got a great deal on it because the po screwed up the steering and was scared to drive it. That is the correct miles on it there is a long documented story that came with it and part of it was that it sat in an airplane hangar for 20 years. There is no rust on it and I believe it has all of its original parts.20200523_163359.jpeg20200523_163407.jpeg20200523_163450.jpeg20200523_163523.jpeg20200523_163514.jpeg

I primed the hood and let it set for three hours and when I started sanding it was pilling so it will set overnight and see if it will harden up. This is the first time I have used this primer it has a hardener like you put in fiberglass resin at a ratio of 50 to 1 I guess I'm on the learning curve again. So to fill my waiting time I put a new steering wheel on the mower. The jeep horn is next.
So its 7:48 that's bbq time round here. 20200524_155946.jpeg20200524_161125.jpeg20200524_185917.jpeg20200524_192417.jpeg20200524_192407.jpeg20200524_194006.jpeg20200524_193943.jpeg

Jim glad you are making progress on the hood and the steering wheel looks like the one I had in my 68 ford falcon, looks good on the tractor. looks like you are getting good use out of the grill and patio table:beer:

Nice to see the garden doing well. ours is all green too. that jeep is a sweet heart. I like those alot. Sorry to hear that the primer was rolling off the hood that can ruin a good day I've never used that brand I stick with All P.P.G. products so I can skip past the learning curve.

Have a nice holiday tomorrow

Yes that last crop of beans didn't do well at all, I tilled them and bought some at ace hardware and they are jumping out of the ground, they are called Roma ll they are a flat green bean and Pat will can every one of them.
The CJ5 is a 73 and all original with no rust, It doesn't get 50 miles per year but it is her baby.
When I lived in Chicago I used ppg but I have to go to Chattanooga to get it now that's 40 miles one way so Im trying to assimilate with the locals. After it sat all night it sanded ok today. I have 3 good coats of green on it now so tomorrow I'll put the yellow stripe on it then clear it when I get the graphics done.

I’m glad I’m not the only one with a hood-less John Deere mower! Not sure what cheap plastic they made those hoods out of, but mine shattered like glass when pushing it out of the shed. I like the steering wheel.
