So, wait... THAT'S the proper technique for pulling vacuum on the system? I've always went off and did other things. I've been doing it all wrong. Ok, so next time I've gotta watch it. Noted. LOL

LOL, Its so fun to just sit sometimes.
Rebuilt the graco sprayer today, my neighbor bought a rental and wants to spray it tomorrow so luckily I tested it today and that's a good thing cause it didnt spray. Then Pat shows up to see what I'm doing and decides that she will spray the hobbit house when the graco comes home. 20200625_211913.jpeg

Hi Jim

Your porch looks good and cozy with the tailgate bench loaded with equipment (stuff) I know how you feel bout takin a day off now and then. I just got home from my vacation home on the Colorado river so it's time for me to hit it again

I haven't seen rain like that in a long time.

I assume that the toys fueled your ability to gain your freedom? "Begin with the end in-mind."

I wish!
It took a WHOLE lot more cash than those would have brought.
Sold the Toyota to fund the dragbike.
Traded the K-10 for an S-10 and finally sold the 86 Ninja in 96 with just shy of 70K miles on it.
It had sat in the garage for 3 years.
New wife doesn't like to ride.
BTW, the divorce was worth every penny!

Hello Don
Long time no hear, hope your vacation was great. Donnie said the ceilings in the rental were good to go so come get the sprayer.
I saw your bank front, looks great, I like those panel doors.
I'm sitting on my bench watching Dalton put a crank position sensor on his truck, I'm thinking I may need to upholster the bench, make it a little softer.

I spent a lot of time in one of those stalls pulling wrenches, the oil embargo is what put us out of the gas station business.
Back then I had a 56 F100 with a 390/C6 it had 66 caddy tilt/telescopic power steering the dash out of a 67 galaxy power everything.
The first wife cost me half a mil, the second one a quarter mil, Pat new she wasn't marrying money definitely worth every penny.20200626_171905.jpeg20200626_162142.jpeg

Jim, my first (and last) wife cost me at least a million. Let's see, a million divided by 58 is a little over $17K a year. At least I get to keep my toys.

I have no idea why Mrs Pines has kept me in her life for 42 years... 40 married. Well... there is that one thing. That first date ...made up her mind. Hope for 40 more.

I've seen the strangest breakups in my life. Several planned years in advance...

I've been peeking in on you almost daily but didn't have much to say.
Remember back a few pages when I said that we have a lot in common?
Well I just discovered another connection with you.
Divorces are expensive but worth it most of the time. I'm on my third wife and this one is a keeper for sure. The last one hit the not cheaper to keep her mark so she had to go.

I wish you would have had a sit down talk with me 20 years ago.
Did you get that porting done on the vette, how dose it run now.

Jim, I discovered my "50-50" thought process wasn't viewed that way from the other side. Turned out to make the other side feel like it's really 50-50 you better believe you are giving 100% one hundred percent of the time.

OR
You can do like the young frontier couple who were going to town in their horse and wagon. The horse stopped and refused to move so the husband got out and said to the horse: "That's ONE!" He got back on the wagon and the horse continued down the trail but soon stopped again. Husband got out and said to the horse: "That's TWO!" He got back in and the horse continued down the trail but soon stopped again. Husband got out, walked up tho the horse and shot it in the head. The horse dropped dead and the wife started screaming "Are you crazy? Why did you shoot the horse?" and the husband said "That's ONE!"

[Please don't tell my wife I told that joke. She already said "That's TWO!" the last time I told it.]

I haven't finished the porting on the Vette but I did start it up with the un-ported intake just to be sure it worked. Started right up but stalled after a second or two. Pretty sure the throttle position sensor is set correctly so I adjusted the stop screw on the linkage. It's idling fine now and I hope to take it out for a test run tomorrow.

That's funny as hell because I did the same thing. Saw the progress you had made but couldn't comment intelligently. We got it[emoji106]

The first one is happily married to my best friend, they are doing well and visit often, I talked to him (Dan) last night for about 3 hours, he said they were coming down in the fall if the virus would allow.
The second one was bipolar and didnt tell me until the night of the wedding, along with many other things that had been kept from me. I slept with one eye open for five years.
Pat is a gift from God we are so in tune with each other its eerie, we can finish each other's sentences. We can look at each other and not say a word but know! I heard that joke as it was told by Jerry Clowers on an 8 track tape when I was a young man, it has been an ongoing joke my whole life, it's funny you picked that one.
I have been out picking wild blackberries this afternoon and Pat is now in the kitchen making Blackberry jelly. I'll wait about three days and pick again and that will be for a gallon of Blackberry wine, after that they are for ice cream topping.

Did a little math and my picket spacing is 4.650" face to face with 3/4" pickets.
I'll need to pick up some 3/8" round rod to use for my spacer, that will set my 3/4" pickets in the center of my 1 1/2" top and bottom rail.
Got a call from Donnie he is going to Cookville tomorrow so it looks like Im doing deliveries, so I can swing by the metal shop and pickup my steel on the way back20200701_201915.jpeg
Starting layout
20200701_202112.jpeg
I have a 1/4" rod under the pickets, you can see it's not centered on the top rail a3/8' rod will fix it.

Jim, for some reason a post I made the other day has disappeared. :headscrat
Anyway, I like the size of your welding table, that will come in handy for making your handrail sections. Where are these going?

A server went haywire and GJ lost a bunch of posts. Ryan is trying to recover what he can but not a problem.
I am building the handrails for my house and patio.
Then I am going to build a gazebo type structure to put on top of the hobbit house. It is an old root cellar that the granddaughter renamed. I would have had to put handrail around it anyway so I decided to add a top to it then we will add some rope lights. It's dark under that tree at night. I did run electric to it when I trenched to the RV, luckey!
Then the work table will go away and the steel top will become the new floor for my dump trailer. 20200429_144042.jpeg20200407_182056.jpeg

Jim, that looks like a nice supply of canned goods! Some of those items I have not heard of, like chow chow. :headscrat. Those damn hot pickles sound interesting, are they pretty hot? Don't know if I ever had a hot pickle before.

That reminds me of my mother's kitchen in the summer time. She and her sisters would get together and can fruit and veggies all summer.

Jim: good to see you are still very busy. funny you post the jars and making jam and maybe some canning later as the stuff comes out of your garden cause we just picked up a car load of jars and lids at my moms that used to do quite a bit of that.

we've (I say that without my bride hearing cause she does most of it) been making raspberry freezer jam, pesto and a few other things every year hear too and it's great to reach in the freezer and grab something tasty when you just can't go buy it at the stores.

i've got a lot of posts and several pages to catch up on, but wanted to stop in and say hi and keep up the good work.

My bil helped me work on his front porch again today, I'm irritated with him, he cant just go buy what we need and get done he only buys a little at a time and waste my time. But he is Pat's brother so I will take care of him for her.
I am anxious to get back to my projects I have built my lights for my shop porch about a dozen times in my mind and I have handrail all over the shop that I need to finish.
Jayman
I started a thread called home canning I put the recipe for hot damn pickles there, they are not real hot just a mild warm unless you add more peppers, I add more cause I like hot. Chow chow is a southern relish based on cabbage and in a remote way could remind you of a sweet kraut, kind of but different. As I said over there pinto beans and cornbread are southern staples for supper sides, a large spoonful of chow chow in your beans offers the perfect amount of comfort to your comfort food.
Don
I just stopped by your place.
Yes it brings back wonderful old memories the smell of hot vinegar and spices on the stove. We also used to prepare our own meat from livestock we raised. Not to many people have that kind of childhood to cherish. At 12 years old I used to walk across town with a 12 gauge shotgun on my shoulder to go hunting with my friends. Too much reminiscing.
Drives
You got some nice wood stacked up over there.
We got luckey a couple years ago a friends mother quit canning and she asked if we wanted her old jars, we got a couple hundred, we washed and packed them in totes, they have come in so handy.

This is my happy time of the year. I'll probably go pick berries again Wednesday then I'll start some wine. I dont drink much I usually give it away but I just like this kind of life. Thanks for stopping by guys.20200706_161301.jpeg

Jim, my mom used to can fruit and veggies when I was growing up. I did check out your canning thread, good stuff. Have you ever tried to make blackberry syrup with your blackberries? I don't know how to but I buy some around here and use it on French toast. It's real good!
Looks like your bil has the right helper on the job, the porch looks almost done.

All the talk about canning brings back memories of Mom and my grandmothers canning in the basement of our old house.
We had a second "kitchen" which was a gas range, old fridge, a sink and some cabinets, but every summer it turned into a canning factory.
Great memories.
Thanks for sharing, Jim!

It rained really hard for about 30 minutes last night. I got to the bil's this morning and all of the screws and some tools were left out and full of water. Cleaned up the mess and got started I'm hoping to finish tomorrow, I really hope I get done!20200708_100516.jpeg
Driver bits full of water

Clean screws are a must
20200708_155938.jpeg
The house has had a second roof built over the old existing roof so it's kind of a mess up there. I would pull all of the cieling out and cut new joists but Its not my job I'm just the help.
20200708_185338.jpeg
I did get the last four feet of the roof jacked up and level, it had a three inch drop on the left side, boy did it creek and pop. It had been unsupported for many years.

JIM: is that a tortoise shell calico cat? we've had several since we moved here 30+ years ago and all of them have had TORTI-TUDE. pleasing them is what we live for and our current resident (CLEO patra) is maybe the best hunter of the bunch. nothing bigger than a spider survives her rath, but I think she has a few squirrels she likes. some days when we take a walk around the neighborhood Cleo likes to walk alongside us and she goes around a few corners before we head back home.

looks like you've got a lot on the to do and honey do list and I bet more get added as you check others off.

it's another great day to be doing what we do.

cheers
