Looking good. The rosette? adds a nice, professional touch. I’ll have to check out King Architectural.

Cold “apple cider”to end the day. [emoji106]

I like the detail on the railing. Something like that flower can make you smile every-time you see it.

Do you know about the engineer who started Amp Research? Horst Leitner, a very-creative fellow, who unfortunately was consumed by depression, he killed himself. He did small-run cars for the Detroit auto industry, and Japan too. They did sunroofs, T-tops and convertibles.

Leitner also did a mountain bike suspension system which was simple and effective.

The Leitner apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Here's a clever product lineup from Horst Leitner's son.

The paper catalog is amazing it's almost 2" thick, it's hard to see it all on the net but they have leaves, grape vines, spheres, anything you can think of. That peach sider was real good and cold.
Driftpin
You are right they just look like bars stacked in rows otherwise.
Didnt know about Leitner, some people think on a completely different level. I know when I put the boards on Pat's truck they fit perfect using all existing holes and bolts already in the truck, it was the slickest install I have ever done.
We are in whitewater rafting country and I have seen the modular truck racks and roof tents on a lot of vehicles around here the thought process of the engineers is amazing.
Baylor
I'm not sure about the racks but the boards are on amazon and actually cheaper there than any other place I know of. Maybe they have racks also?

Dalton stopped by this morning and wanted to weld up some holes in a couple of chairs he was restoring for his grandma. I told him ok but I didnt think that would be the right way to do it and he agreed. Getting the whole story out of him is sometimes difficult as he doesn't want to add work to me and tries to find a solution himself. That's what I like about him. After some discussion he told me that the plastic arms had broken but he didnt know how to repair them I said we dont we make new ones from wood. Dalton said he would go buy some pine and we could make them from that I suggested we find something a little harder than pine he said his grandma liked cedar, I said that would work fine go find some and he left. He came back about an hour later with an old cedar tree trunk so we trimmed the branches off with a sawzall and ran it through the table saw a few times to square it then quarter it to expose the heart wood.20200802_160636.jpeg
The holes he wanted to fill. After we decided what we were going to do he powder coated the chairs and put them in the oven to bake. I got the pic after they came out of the oven

The tree after we limbed it
20200802_132254.jpeg
Ran it through the table saw a few times, then split it to get to the pretty wood
20200802_132258.jpeg
The scraps, save them they smell good
20200802_153129.jpeg
Ran them through the router to cut a trough down through the bottom then round over all of the edges

Preliminary sanded and ready to test fit

Precision gauge for alignment
20200802_153648.jpeg
Clamping them down like this insures they are level to each other, when you are setting in the chair they feel level

While they are clamped I drilled them from the bottom up.

Test fit, all looks good

Got back from Athens around 1:00 had some lunch and went to the shop where I sanded and second coated the chair arms. I started putting a new set of running boards on my truck and about half way through it started raining20200804_150837.jpeg

I like the rails, will have to check out the place you ordered the fancy bits from. Keep in mind, that ford is the 6.0 powerstroke, the ones known to have issues with oil and EGR coolers, welcome to the next club. ;)

Yep, 2000 sq. ft. And I'm in the gravel. The last set I put on Pat's truck took about an hour and a half, they are the best designed system I have ever used. It would have taken longer to pull the mower and Jeep out. Going out now to finish.

Yea, I was on the fence about a diesel but it's something I have needed to do for too long.
Amp Research boards, Amazon was the cheapest.

Those cedar trees are leaning against the wall behind every barn around here, they cut them and use them for fence posts. The one I used was cut 10 years ago. I like using them for walking sticks also.

We had a huge circle maybe 200 feet diameter of cedars 30-40' tall in the forest area in front of my house about 1/2 mile in. It was technically the only place cedars were growing cept for a random child tree. It was mystical.

They wholesale cleared that area of the forest for a developments "drainage pond"...

Since that... Cedars have been popping up along everyones property edges that go against the forest line. I have about 20 or 30 trees growing on my 3 sides.

They sent all those beautiful 40' trees thru a wood chipper... <sad face>

A lot of the time my shop smells like cedar, the shavings get quite deep at times. I burn the scraps in the wood burner. Dalton's uncle has a saw mill, we are taking the big logs to him when the weather cools down. He will saw the to what we want. Were going to make some live edge tables from some of it.20191223_154225.jpeg1596758874975_20191223_180155.jpeg1596758817968_20200106_130518.jpeg20191212_123754.jpg

Nice steps, looks like Amp brand. Have a set on my SD, they are low when you need them and not when you don't. Considering for my 72 Ford as it's up pretty high, have to climb in at this point.

I love the looks of that wood Jim.
I love the step on my new ford truck. I wouldn't be able to get into it if they weren't there. The damn thing sits way too high.

That was my problem Don, my old 1/2 ton was easy to get in and out of but it couldn't handle my dump trailer. The F250 is at least 6 inches higher.
I have sprayed four coats of clear on the cedar arm rests they are looking like glass. Dalton is redoing them for his grandma, the old arm rests are a bakelite and are crumbling. Should finish them today.
