Pat wants to run a coarse of the towsend pavers across the front like we did in the back. Should finish the front structure. Now a load of top soil and try to get grass to grow.

As long as I listen to Pat the colors work, her Dad was a union painter he worked for the elite crowd in Chattanooga. He taught her well and I will give her all the credit on color choices.
I had to go buy a new washer/dryer set this afternoon and I'm going to need to cut a new dryer vent hole through the wall in the morning.
I cleaned the shop this morning and am ready to start the next welding project when the dryer is finished, hopefully that will be after lunch.

That hitching post belonged to my favorite Uncle Claud it was in front of his house for as long as I can remember. Him and his horse did everything together including bar hopping. Bill the horse was well known in and around the bars in Aurora Il. One evening we were at Antonetties after Bill had his pitcher of Bud he was tied to the gas pipe out back but got loose and we all went looking for him, about an hour into the hunt the bartender got a call from Losers tap about a mile or two away. They wanted to know if Claud had lost his horse and of course Antonettie said yes, the bartender said he had the horse so we got in my truck and drove to Losers tap and the horse was at the shuffleboard table with a pitcher of Bud and a bowl of peanuts. My Dad rode Bill back to Antonetties and we put him in my Uncles truck for the ride home, after two pitchers of Bud he was in no shape to ride home.
But I digress, you are most welcome to hitch your horse to Clauds hitching post any time and I will water him, may be Bud but he wont leave thirsty.

As a friend once told me the welcome mat is out with your name on it. My porch comes with the same message.
I had to work on the mulch kit today it was hitting the blade in one spot so I took it out to inspect for dents or bent metal causing interference, all looks good. Examined the plastic baffle that came in the kit there I found the problem. It hangs from the top layer of plastic so I made two sleeves from some 1" pipe and large washers on one end and small washers on the other that would support it through to the bottom. You can see the two large holes in the bottom of the baffle in the pic. The sleves worked perfectly. I now have 1/2" of clearance between the blade and the plastic. I dont know what the life expectancy of abs plastic inside a mower deck is going to be but the next time they will be made of steel.

Really have enjoyed your work - the railings are great and the "file" Cobra is awesome.
The pics of your Uncle and his Horse are great...the photo of Bill rearing up reminds me of an rider that we had in our hometown July 4th parade for years. The one year, he rode up into the front yard on the parade route and had his horse rear up like that - surprised the hell out of the folks there. The rider made a surprise appearance recently and is in his late 80s. He stopped by where our family was setup and it was really great to talk to him.
The porch looks really inviting too - my wife is jealous of your porch swing - she spent many hours relaxing on the swing at her grandparents growing up and has always wanted one - sadly, we have no porch!

My neighbor tried it with his and it filled the piston bore with oil. Mine puffed white one time on start up. I just cant get down to get under one these days so it's a lifesaver for me.

The pics of my family are just who we are. Claud was a welder at Austin Western and Dad was a truck driver and both started farming with mules and horses when they were young. We used to ride in the fall parade when we lived up north( I always rode something with a motor) it was a great time.
The swing was built buy an amish man that lives a few miles from us. We stopped and asked him if he could build one for us and he took our address, and in about 2 weeks we recieved a letter telling us the swing was ready, they dont use telephones.

Claud was in control he was calling instruction to Bill. Not bad for a cowboy with a wooden leg! Bill was trained to do tricks by a certain word, he did a lot of tricks but most of my pics of him were destroyed in a flood in 1996.

Was going to take it easy today and just hang out at the shop but a friend called and wanted some help on a car. He was having trouble setting the radiator height on one of his hot rods. First we had to set the body on the frame and the radiator shell on the front crossmember. Then we placed a 4' level across them and measured a 3" difference. So we notched the shell 3"x 3 5/8" and this is what we got.

That's funny I told Pat the same thing. I'm hoping he just brain farted and couldn't figure out how to get started. When I got there the body was hanging in the rafters and he was trying to figure out how to set the nose height. I dont mind helping out but I dont need any more projects.

I worked on the blackberrys most of the day. Originally I wanted to plant 8 this year and they only had 7 so I kind of let them go a little wild but kept them watered. Saturday I went out and cut some 25' bamboo to make some trellises so I could tie them up I started saturday and got rained out tried again sunday afternoon and got rained out again. I got them done today and I found that two of the longest branches had rooted themselves so I cut them loose saturday and moved them to the number 8 spot today. The trellises are not the best but will work until I figure what steel I need to make some next spring. I'll get a pic tomorrow.
I have been working on a couple of chairs for Pat they go with the table that is already finished it is a kitchen table and 2 chairs from the 1930s that will set on the end of the porch close to the stairs. Got them stripped and regluded hope to get some fresh paint on them tomorrow.
I used a razor knife and scrapped one chair in about one hour or so then sanded to finish, the chairs appear to be maple so the wood didnt get scratched by the knife and came out nice.

It tried to rain all day so I didnt paint the chairs today. I mowed mine and the neighbors yards today it took four hours, Fred has a big yard. They still havent figured out what is wrong with him.
I got my enclosed trailer out of storage and moved it to the shop. It needed extra cross members welded into the floor as it only had 1 1/4" angle iron on 24" centers. So I stood it up on its tail and added 1 1/2" square tube in between each angle. Now it is very solid. I'm going to rewire it and put some new lights on it then undercoat it. If things work out I am going to paint it white.

I got started on the trailer, it had been backed into something hard enough to bend the corner rail in about 1" and I believe a blown tire may have taken out the right side and fender.
I took most of the screws out of the right side removed the fender and tire/wheel and clipped the siding up out of the way.
I used a tank bar and a C clamp to straighten the rear corner rail then I used a sledge hammer on the rails near the tire. All rails are straight now so I hammered and dollied the sheeting flat.
The po washed it to sell and washed all of the paint off.
Cant really see it but the side bows in about 1" above the tire around where the fender bolts
About even with the top hinge is a red mark where it hit something.
After I straightened the side rails I added some backer board to help when I put the fender back on.
That is as far as I got today I had to take Dalton to Decatur Tn. To pick up his truck it popped a timing chain so I trailered is back here we will start on it tomorrow after he gets off work.

Hammered on it on the anvil a bit and did some relief cuts.
Clamped on the copper backer
Welded and ground smooth
Had extra holes in it also
Used a copper clamp to back up the big hole

Ground smooth, these fenders are galvanized so the galvanizing was ground back and full shop ventilation was on during the welding, no brain cells were damaged during this procedure and it was a trick keeping the shielding gas where it needed to be.

The garden is done, by august around here with the poor soil I have it just gives out.
I'm hoping to get some better soil trailered in this winter maybe that will help.
I didnt plan on doing this trailer now but the 411 yard sale starts next thursday and it runs through sunday and it goes about 300 miles from Leeds Al. to Newport Tn. My bil talked me into setting up with him at our Masonic lodge it's about 2 miles from the house on Hwy 411.
So I got the trailer out and none of the lights work, it was damaged on the right side when I bought it, the paint looks like ****. I couldn't see myself towing it anywhere looking like that.
Now I'm jumping through hoops trying to get it done. Nothing like motivation to help you get things done.

My progress for today on the trailer.
The right side was really in a mess up. The front corner was bashed in a couple of inches so I took the aluminum gravel guard off and removed the corner sheet metal and hammered it over a piece of three inch pipe to straighten and smooth it out then put it back on. I sanded and painted the rear door frame and the side door.
