Kind of goofed off today, no real plan just did some little projects that have been hanging out for a while.

at the pace you've been on you DESERVED a rest day (goof off day) or two.

that cart is looking good and I bet once you get it on asphalt or cement parking lots and streets you'll have a blast.

did you insure it? :D

BIL's sign is great.

I'm starting to wonder if my covid shot is working on me a bit. I go this Wednesday for the second one, Maderna. Then I go Thursday to get my stitches out of both shoulders, had some cysts cut out. I'm a mess.
I took the Speedy Cart for a ride down the road, it clips along pretty fast.
I'm trying to get some time to pull the clutch out of my sewing machine, its stuck, then I can finish the upholstry.
Probably not going to insure it. Everyone is betting that I sell it at the first car show in May, it's not for sale but theres always the its not for sale price! Last couple of things I have built got sold for the it's not for sale price.

I worked on the ridge caps on the Gazebo for a while today until the Daughter and SIL showed up and stalled my project.

I applied a sealing tape to the roof panel joints.

There was scaffolding involved.

I learned this trick in one of Shortys safety classes.

I gave up for today, Dalton called and said he broke something on his mower, I told him to load it and bring it to the house tomorrow and we would fix it and finish the roof.

I got all of the ridge cap on the gazebo today. I was taking some heat from Pat and Dalton they said my scaffolding was sketchy I disagreed and almost threw them off my job site. Tomorrow I make a cupola for the top and I'll be done on the roof.
20210418_122816.jpeg
The shortest sheet metal screw that my supplier has is 1.25" and that looked pretty bad inside the gazebo
20210418_194358.jpeg
I cut 40 screws to .5" and used them for the ridge cap
20210418_190056.jpeg
Done except for the cupola
20210418_194420.jpeg
Ok the scaffolding what say ye
20210418_194443.jpeg
I thought it looked pretty good maybe I'm losing it and need to stay on the ground

Anyway me, jack, and coke are watching mr sirloin right now Pat is doing a baked potato to accompany this mess

Jim, I see nothing wrong with your scaffolding. Then again I've never set up scaffolding so maybe I'm missing something. On steep pitches I always threw a weighted string across the roof on one side of the chimney and then threw it back on the other side. Final step was to use the string to pull a rope and then tie the rope around my waist. Never fell off the roof and never hung myself. Your setup looks way safer.

crawling around on that steel roof has to put a few bruises on you so happy to hear you are no worse for wear. nice work as per usual and dinner looks tasty.

keep up the good work cause even if you get done with everything at home it surely sounds like your friends need you. best of luck fixing Dalton's mower.

Did you get hurt? Nope so scaffolding passes with flying colors.

Speaking of WTF pictures, someone posted this. Looks like you have competition 8b32b5e9c8b0fe5a284d9704742620c9.jpg

That brings new meaning to "grocery getter".

Gazebo looks great, I was dealing with green metal roofing this weekend as well, but I used a bucket truck....

Didnt do much today, I think I sprained my body crawling on that roof. It wasnt too clear in the pics but I had two mats laid down then two pieces of 2x6 on them centered over a cross brace then the ladder was setting on the 2x6s. I did that to keep from bending the metal. I had to do everything from the ladder.
I went to Donnies today and plased out the parts for the cupola but didnt get to work on it as I had errands to run. Hoping to make some progress tomorrow.
Bob
When I lived up north my roof pitch was 12-12 and I did the same thing as you, tied off to the chimney.
Kay
I wouldn't have tried to set up at a customer's location like that. Would have opted for a boom lift. I was going to use the tractor and man basket but the basket is MIA.

Got a few bruises but got it done. Dalton showed up but didnt bring the mower.

I like the way you think.
I dont think that idea will catch on.

The bil wants to take it to walmart.
I saw your metal came loose, was the wind blowing that hard?
Going to see if I can find some steel to make a metal brake like the swag off road arbor press brake. Donnie has the swag and the throat is too wide to be useful in most applications. I need to brake a 3/4" lip in 10 gauge so I may be going to the scrap yard tomorrow.

The wind was blowing pretty bad, it was also coming from an abnormal direction, so things were worse.

I could totally see that car loaded with Walmart purchases. ;)

Yes goody bags are a must. From experience you’ll want a nice denim or canvas bag also. I’ve found the standard bags tend to tear if overloaded.

I will have a trailer also no chance of leaving something behind.

I stopped at the powder coat shop and Dalton said a buddy of mine dropped off a grill to be coated, he couldn't remember the guys name. I said let me see the part.
20210420_134833.jpeg
It belongs to Alan he is building sort of a track styled roadster I had Dalton take the pic and I sent it to Alan with the message, (Its mine now) he was on the way quick.
I got the clutch out of my sewing machine today, the throw out sleeve is froze solid. I got it disassembled and the grease had solidified so it is in a bucket soaking. Reassembley tomorrow.

Whether or not you're down tomorrow is a **** shoot. If you are, don't fight it. And I'm told, take Tylenol. Good luck.

Jim, had my second shot on Monday and the site has been tender for two days. I was a little achy Tuesday but fine today. Just happened to have a Tylenol 3 left over from some oral surgery that didn't hurt that much so my pain was minimal.

Getting my shot today and hoping the same thing. We ended up working 4-10's this week so IT could load new software on our computers tomorrow. So tomorrow is a playday for me at the shop and I'm wishing for the same thing as you... hope I'm not down. Take care!

I got the maderna, so far today I'm doing ok, arm is a little sore. Pat was up all night with it, she has issues with her neck and had to postpone her steroid shot for two more weeks because you cant have any other shots within two weeks, she has an Ice pack on her neck and shoulder.
I have a ton of stuff to get done but I'm kind of staying with Pat for now.

I slept 13 hours last night, Pat is still sleeping, I think she was up most of the night. I dont ache like I did last night but I'm tired, just going to rest today. Thanks for the kind thoughts folks.
For those that wonder I would get the shot again.

Sounds like it hit you guys pretty hard. Prayers sent to you guys. I'm with you on the repeat. Do it again this minute. I don't want the US to end up like India right now, but I'm really afraid we might. I know the main hospital in my area is at 100% capacity due to Covid cases. Stay safe.

Hope your side-effects resolve soon. My wife & I got the Pfizer shots, the second one > 1 month ago. Not much of a wait, at the Miami FL public health trust hospital. They're using an 'all-hands' approach. Fire dept paramedics, and nurses giving the shots, the state allowed other health care professionals to participate too.

My wife's arm was a bit sore after shot #1, neither of us had issues after shot #2.

I have multiple friends who retired from Pfizer, anyone know about their facilities here in the USA? When the predecessor company merged with Pfizer, it so-happened their world-wide largest R&D facility was part of what used-to be Upjohn Pharmaceuticals. As in Kaopectate, Lipitor, minoxidil and ******, Rx's many GJ members have experience with I bet, one or-more. Pfizer just announced a half billion dollar expansion of their facility in the heart of the Midwest, Kalamazoo MI, former home for 100+ years for Gibson guitars, Shakespeare sporting goods, Checker Automobiles, Kalamazoo machine tools, and since early in the 21st Century, Pfizer.

One of my friends is a retired chemist for them, his wife was a research associate, others are IT people or in marketing/advertising. I had both my Pfizer shots before my friend the Pfizer chemist and his wife. Both said their post-Rx symptoms were minor or non-issues. The salaried employees should be getting some decent bonuses, he said, from the work time they're doing. Thank-god the products seem to be working. As-to having to get a booster towards the end of the year, I am OK w/that. I get the flu shots already, so what's another shot? If I start to behave badly, I'm blaming it on mRNA and nanoparticles.
