How big is this shed going to be? How long do you think it'll take you to break down all those pallets?

I did three pallets in an hour, that includes removing the nails.
The addition will be about 8'x 17' it will be the same size as the box next to it. The objective is to get the mowers a place to live, get them out of the shop.
Donnie is bringing in some 8'x 8' machine pallets today, they may work as is for walls.
The 1x6 boards are going to be used to line the inside of the chicken coop. I have some ridged foam insulation that I want to put in the walls first, I hoping to keep the temperature down a bit in there.

No Jay we didnt plant a garden and we are doing the basement this year so Pat said she was not going to can anything, that will last until someone gives her a basket of something, lol but with the new canning kitchen done for next year it will be used a bunch.

did you make a JIM's version of this DUCKBILL wrecker I picked up last year to take apart my old deck? If I had your scrap pile and your skills I would have made one myself, but sadly I don't have either so paying $100 for a tool that will not only take a huge deck apart in a few minutes I too will probably end up using it to take apart old pallets cause like you I also like FREE LUMBER.

your trailer deals sound awesome and i'm sure you'll be happy using the big one to hold all your stuff in your basement while you are remodeling it.

Uncle Willie, like a skinny chicken, Sadley its unlawful to kill a snake in Tennessee so if they want your house you just have to move over.

Drives, I had a friend who would run pallet lumber through his wood planer and make furniture from it. It was beautiful stuff for very little effort.

Cayenne peppers, and they are hotter than Damnit!
I put one in my breakfast burrito took one bite and took it out. I can handle hot but they are ridiculous.

We have those pesky rattlers around here too. We give the dogs a snake shot every spring.

I like a little heat, I use sriracha like ketchup but those things are hot.
Pat canned them and I'll pour the juice on my greens.


Thankfully that snake is about 1.5 hours up the road from here. I'm sure we have them here but there no as abundant here.
Charlie lives next to windrock campground it is a 72,000 acre 4x4 campground on a mountain in Oliver Springs, the rattle snakes there dont rattle, they have learned to stay quiet so the wild hogs dont hear them, the hogs eat the snakes. This makes it really bad to walk around his house.

My ex-mother-in-law is Chinese. That woman can eat red hot iron, BUT, she found a variety of Thai chili's that even she is cautious with. Called "Thai Dragon". She will keep them dried and in the freezer and just use a teeny piece when she cooks a dish. Every year or so she will grow a plant of it in a pot. Here in Colorado you have to start them early in the house. She will baby it around the sun and weather, moving it as needed to get the best sun and avoid hail. That pepper is evil.

Any pepper now disagrees with my stomach, even bell peppers give me grief. I suppose it is the capsicum oils. I just choose when I want to eat something and then just suffer for a day or so. Some foods are just worth it.

Jim, like you, I use sriracha in place of ketchup. I also make my own spicy vinegar, loosely based on Datu Puti's Sukang Maasim. I think they use milder peppers and white vinegar. I substitute dried Thai peppers, apple cider vinegar, dried minced onions (Kirkland) and fresh sliced garlic. I add more apple cider vinegar when needed until it gets too mild and make a fresh batch.

S&A, I have always liked heat but a couple years ago I was diagnosed with an ulser(second ex wife) since they put me on a stomach pill I dont revisit the peppers. I have found that people who eat bell peppers that are not green dont seem to have a problem with them causing indigestion. Try a yellow or red one.

Bob, that sounds tasty, I have to have hot sauce on my greens.

Kirk, it ain't for everyone, when I cook the guys yell spice it up. I dont because half of the people don't like heat, just add to taste.

Lawful or not in FL, I killed the last one I saw like that on my property.

This is a good reminder that I still need to get some sort of snake bite emergency kit. I'm way too far from a hospital to chance it.

Thanks for the thought, but colored peppers get me too. It's not heart burn (I said stomach above, but that was not accurate) it's lower GI issues. I eat peppers and then need to stay close to home for awhile...

Other types of food that are spicy hot, like curry I'm fine with. Just those damn fresh peppers.

I used to love HOT peppers... I ate ghost peppers in my eggs... (tiny amount, but still there)... Then I turned 60 and my stomach went on strike. I can't eat them anymore.

I am now a sweet pepper guy... adds flavor without the ER visit.

I had a chance to slow down a bit today, Orkin came to spray for mosquitos so I had to stay out of the yard for a while. The pallet disassembly line is going well.

Got a good load of 1x6, some of the pile on the right will be fire wood, I'm not pulling 4" nails.

These are 10' long and all clean.

Still have a few to do next week.

So I stayed in the shop while Orkin sprayed and I made a roller stand for an upcoming project.

Had these bearings in stock. I put some O-rings on them.

I grabbed some threaded rod and some steel tubing from stock.

I took a couple pieces of Lyon Metal slotted angle and cut a couple of feet and bolted it all together.

I have to cut these tanks apart and remove the parts inside and weld them back together.

You are one of the handiest guys I know of. I too love those huge pallets cause the companies that build them use quality lumber too.

We started on the big red trailer today.


Pat wanted to work on emptying it out soooooo, we did.

This is how it looked when we got it home.

This truck and,

This truck were filled to capacity, even the back seat and passenger seats were full. We hauled them off last week.

We removed the cabinets, counter tops, sink, and all of the shelving.

There was a lot of **** in there, oh yea about 150 ft of the worst 110 electrical system I have ever seen, it all came out also.

Now we are down to the shell. Time to clean it up and sweep it out. I'm going to clean and cool seal the roof next week as we are going to store our priceless antique treasures in it until the basement is finished.

There were two full loads of garbage that went to the dumpster.

Then there is a load of scrap that we are burning now.

Kirk I doubt it.

I looked into renting from PODS a 14' pod is 90 dollars per month, I would need two so 180 per mo. For maybe 8 months 1,440 dollars, got the trailer for a third of new, less than half of what they are selling for used on marketplace, I'm sure I'm going to make money on this one.

I priced the speedy cart to a buddy at the last cruise in and he called me and accepted the price. He will be by sometime to pick ut up. Here we go again.

Don, It caught me off guard, I wasnt thinking of selling it. I was passing out car show flyers at a cruise in and he hit me up, I said I would think about it and call him, he never flinched when I priced it he just said yes. I have my next idea already on the drawing board.
I'm hoping the trailer is short term, like 8 months then I will remove the concession doors and put it back to a car hauler it will be worth twice as much as a concession would be.
There wasnt much of anything worth keeping. A lot of the clothes were very expensive women's clothes but I donated all of it.
67chevyragtop, I'm going to spray the top with muriatic acid to remove the rust, then I will recaulk the roof vent and A/C unit, then I purchased a 5 gallon bucket of cool seal that will get rolled on with a paint roller. I'll try to take pics as I do it.


The Speedy cart, the next project will be two wheels!
