Jim, once again it's "Trust but Verify." Chevy dealer mechanic told me the misfire on my Corvette was bad valves and could be fixed for $2,000. Took it home and checked compression and it was spot on. Turned out it was the MAF Sensor, which didn't throw a code but another place I brought the car to had a used one they tried on my car and it fixed the problem. Ended up buying an Innova OBD-2&1 tool. Pretty primitive compared to the model they sell now.

Bob, it's a sign of the times I'm afraid. The shop I took it to back in the summer had one of the best reputations in SE Tennessee, apparently it was sold to a new owner before I got there. The Jeep was at another well known 4x4 shop before I owned it and they fumbled it also.
Your MAF sensor reminds me of when I was a mechanic back in the 1970s I kept a ford brain box that I took off of a wrecked truck. It was a tool for me because I could plug it in and diagnose most (no starts) in minutes.
Uncle Willie, I'm hoping this time (the third time) is the last time.

I got it all back together and down off of the Jack's tonight.
Tomorrow I'll pull the radiator so I can deal with a power steering leak.

All cleaned up and painted, I took a set of coil over shocks off and installed these standard shocks, I dont think it needed coil overs.

Thanks Kev, I'm hoping that I can mark this one off the list also.

I took the radiator out to access the power steering hoses at the steering box.

They hid these fittings really well. I still cant determine where the leak is at exactly, the high pressure hose is new and the box is new and it leaked with the old box also. I will replace the suction hose and the AN fitting for the psi side. They are the only old parts left. I feel like a parts swappers right now!!!

The radiator has a little green on the bottom so I ordered a new radiator, it will be here Saturday. That's about it for today, time for a brake.

Pines, no, on the eyelashes, I had a sil that had them on her bug, I hated her!

Terry, naturally it would be the expensive stuff, LOL.

kirk, I'm not sure, I replaced the steering box with a redhead box last year and had to have a custom high psi hose made to fit because the stock hose is unavailable. I took the AN fitting out and inspected it and the hose, nothing looks obvious. This set up is pre o-ring so that's out. I'm thinking that I will clean and reinstall everything, replace the low psi return line and clamps, spray everything down with brake clean, then watch for a drip. Right now everything was wet so no tracking the wet spot.
I know Pines likes tracking the wet spot!!!

People will use you up if you let them....... you wanted to work on some of your things.
I also understand wanting to help him out..... tough choice sir.

They all know there on the short list, and the short list is about finished. I have told them all I'm not going to live forever and the time I have left is going to be mine. I do appreciate the words guys.
Don normaly I would, and I have done that between two semis in the past, it just hurts too much getting up and down so I pussed out. This guy is only going to be a hundred bucks or so.
I took the day off, Pat, Kayla, and myself went to Birchwood Tn. for a Niece's birthday. It was held at the church's hall, they served mexican food. I'll get back to work tomorrow.

You need to start looking for a car lift, it will help you to do a lot of jobs and you don't have to work on the ground most of the time.

Thank you sir, it turned out to be a great day for me (not so much for Dude, the bil)
He has been moping for a couple of days so I asked what the problem was, what he is describing is a hernia. We attempted to pull some fence posts but he couldn't do it so we quit. I helped him put his tools away, put the tractor back in the shed and disappeared into my shop.

It took a bit of finagling and a trip to Orileys for a new return hose for the P/S box but the new radiator is in.

You cant really see it well but I had to turn the hose fittings in the steering box 45° and reroute the return but it seems to clear everything.

There was never a recovery tank on the jeep so I clear coated this bottle to save the label and tomorrow I will make a bracket and plumb it in.

That'll make a cool overflow tank. I've got an old chlorotet fire extinguisher I've been thinking about making into a recovery tank.

I took the Jeep to the frame shop last night, he said give him a day or two to check it out and he would call me when it was ready. Pat and I cleaned both shops today and moved the superduty into the main shop.

It has a bad oil leak. I'm going to start digging into it tomorrow.

It seems to be running off of the right side of the motor.

The turbo is on the right side and I have been told that there is an oil pump behind it so that seems to be the logical place to start looking.

It's a 2005 F250 superduty, diesel. If anyone has any input it would be greatly appreciated.

As far as today goes I am enjoying an adult beverage and waiting on my pizza to arrive.
It's hard being retired but someone had to do it.

Wait, you're supposed to fix those things? I thought if you had enough of those you never had to change the oil, just replace a quart every 1,000 miles.

Pizza was good, beverage was better.
I dont know why they think everything is a coe, they arnt fun to work on any more.
When you pull the dipstick on a diesel and the oil is clean it's time to slow the drip. Dang rotella is expensive.
Going to the Doc this morning then to the shop to find the leak.

Had to go to pain management and see the man.
I'm always in on a group rate!


I got into the superduty today and found the oil sender was leaking, it is mounted top center in the intake valley pan. The whole top of the motor was floating in oil. I replaced the sender and sprayed the oil slick with carb cleaner and gave it a ******** with the big blow gun. I ran it for a while and attempted to see if anything else was leaking, oil is still dripping but that is to be expected so I parked it on a hill to help the oil to run off.

Tomorrow its front brakes on Pat's truck.
A lobotomy sounds good right about now!

I picked up the Jeep from the frame shop at 6:00 tonight. I trailered it home so no test drive until its light outside. He said the right frame rail was 1" back and the right frame horn was pointed up a bit but he said it's all straight and level now.

It's easy to load, no ramps needed.
So far the superduty seems to have quit dribbling, I soaked the top of the motor with carb cleaner so it dripped heavily yesterday. I parked it nose up last night and there was a big puddle under it this morning, I drove it to a couple places today and it didnt leave any puddles.
I was lazy today so I sat in the shop and stared at my golf cart motor.

Everyone needs a lazy day or two once in a while, I hope you enjoyed it. Jeeps aren't the best handling vehicles to begin with, so I would think that being 1" would make it wretched. I hope it cured your problems.
