Loafed again today, had some running to do, took Pat to longhorn for lunch, got the brake parts for her truck, went to the grocery store and happened into a meat sale, I bought 40 lbs of 80/20 ground chuck, 2- 12 lb whole pork loins, and 8 beef roasts. Got it all divided up and vacuum sealed and in the freezer. So I didnt get to drive the Jeep today, hopefully I will get to tomorrow.

It was a great day, we dropped Kayla at her other grandmas and we just bummed around like we used to do.

Yep the tire is backwards, if it works out it will probably get turf tires, the tires on it ride rough like paddle tires. The coil over is there just not attached at the top. I'm thinking the cradle will get reworked into more of a swing arm type setup, just not sure at this time.
I need to get the bil's bathtub painted and resurfaced and out of my fab shop so I can get the golf cart body on the table.
Also after about a year all of my gas pump globe parts are here so the gas pumps are going back on the list also.
It's time for some fun projects!

I went to the shop this morning to do the brakes on Pat's truck, while I was getting things ready the bil called and wanted me to go with him to buy paint for his bathtub, so we went and looked for paint.

We got some hi-build primer, I put on two coats and sanded between, then started on three coats of metal flake blue.
20220129_183607.jpg
It came out pretty good. We will see what it looks like tomorrow, hopefully it wont need any more. There is a product that I get from Sherwin Williams it is a two part epoxy (I think) that looks just like the enamel finish on the inside. I need to get one of the kits and get the inside done in the next couple of days.
Going to try to get the brakes again tomorrow, I hope.

Seems like an awful lot of finish work for a cast iron tub. It looks good, for a claw tub. Those are the best tubs if you want/need a good hot soak.

Yes it is. It's my fault on this one, he wants a tub like mine.
20220130_113922.jpg
Pat wanted candy apple red metal flake. The tub, cabinet, and several pieces are painted to match.
20220130_114428.jpg
The feet on the tub and all of the hardware are hammered bronze powder coat.
The bil wants blue and antique silver feet and hardware.
It really wasnt too bad, Dalton blasted the tub and brought it back on the tractor forks. I made the bil go over it with a grinder and smooth out the surface, the rest is just rattle can and sand between coats.

I got a new set of locks for the shop, the old one was used when I put it in and it wont stay locked any more.

I rekeyed them to match everything else.

I made this holder years ago to help set the pins, I can set the barrel in it and rotate it to check clearance, I'm sure it's not how a professional would do it but it works for me.

Could you imagine dropping this, they are 3 thousands increments.

Kirk, yes one key works everything.
Thank you Tony, she has a good eye.

We just got back from test driving the Jeep and it's a 100% sucess. It drove straight, no wobble or wandering.
20220130_163844.jpgI still think I'm going to take the 33x12.50s/with 15" wheels off and get a set of 31x10.50/ with 17" wheels to put on it. That will greatly reduce the side wall flex and stabilize the ride a bit more.
Man dose it feel good to win one!!!

That's great news. And yes, the 17s will make it more stable, though the purist in me says NO. But if there's no plan for off-road, then I'd agree with the switch.

The guy at the frame shop started telling me that if we went off road we would need to do this and that, reinforce things and so on. I told him Pat was done off roading it was a grocery getter now. The seventeens goes against the traditionalists in me also but the benifet is obvious. I'm going to let her decide what she wants to do with it but right now she thinks like me and just wants it to be stable and fun.

Having played 52 card pick-up, I think I will pass on the opportunity to play 3000 increment pick-up! Glad the Jeep problem is fixed.

Ok, got Pat's F150 in and did R&R on front pads and rotors, not bad shape but the pedal was getting a pulse in it. Found one of the slides was stuck, cleaned and relubed everything. Test drive, all is well.

Then I brought the Jeep back in and put the bumpers back on it.
20220131_160217.jpg
We made that bumper last year, it has no bolts! Dalton powder coated it satin black.

I finished the radiator over flow bottle.

Cleaned the interior a little. Ammo can console worked out well.
Not sure what I am going to do tomorrow, I have a list and a dartboard!

Jim, sorry for the delay in reading thru...

The trick to being able to "get up" ... make sure you park your walker near you with the parking brake ON... so it doesn't roll away on you. If you don't have a walker... it might be time to consider one of those nice seated variety. With hand brakes that can be set.

Is the house all caught up? Or is it too cold for that noise? Or is did you just need some shop time to clear the cobwebs and bring back some motivation?

I needed some shop time in the worst way, but Pat's F150 was the only thing running. The Jeep is running, and my Superduty is running again. The GMC and my Dodge are still down. I think I'm going to put the Dodge in next and do the head gaskets and bounce back and forth between it and the basement, I'm ready to put the poly on the cieling down there. I need to focus on the house and get it done before the weather warms up so I can play this summer.

Now on to the next project20220201_123204.jpg
Had to get the tractor and go to the woods.

20220201_123210.jpg
Passed by Pat's old Jeep.

20220201_130701.jpg
The golf cart. It's getting a complete make over.

20220201_142751.jpg
Stripped off all of the things that we dont need anymore.

20220201_154824.jpg
I have started making some measurements, the frame is going to get cut off at the rear crossmember and reconfigured from there.

20220201_154919.jpg
And this is going in it. It started life as a 200cc Hammerhead gocart. It has a 5 speed automatic trans. I drove it once before I disassembled it and it ran about 75 mph. This was a kids toy and when the Dad figured out how fast it was he sold it.

I'd love to see you try to take that from Pat. As nice a sweetheart as she is, my guess is that she can handle herself, and anything YOU throw at her, without breaking a sweat.
My plan is to butter her up, then sneak away when she turns her head. Now I have to hide her Jeep keys first. This plan is getting more complicated.

My suggestion is to wait until HJ has the golf cart done, load the golf cart in the back of "your" truck, hook a trailer to it, then load the Jeep onto the trailer. That'd be the haul to make.
