make a plan for the black hole, aka the coal room.
4x4 X Frame along a side wall... red faux leather wall coverings... a selection of restraints. I would choose a rubber floor possibly with a drain in the middle. Much easier to "clean up" that way.

As far as the doorway... it should have an inner door and outer door. The outer door should sort of hide the entrance. The inner door should be 3/4" steel rods around a heavy flat iron frame.

save materials from heading to the dump i'm your guy.
I tried to do this at 2 houses being built by the same builder. I asked nicely... said I would leave the area cleaner than I found and he said he would have me arrested for theft. Even pointed to a remote camera that was pointing towards his dumpster.

He was un-aware I know all the building inspectors... I promptly pointed out our conversation with them over "Gift Cards" for dunkin donuts.

Jim, there are sprayed on flexible urethane roofing insulation and coatings that are waterproof. I don't think they are meant for constant for traffic, so you'd probably have to lay a deck over it. Or you could put down a thin foam insulation board, a few layers of something like visqueen on and then put thick sheet insulation, like that blue-ish stuff, topped with a wood deck. I did once see a rubber flat roofing system where you glued the usual black rubber roofing down, in multiple layers, then applied a thick, goopy glue, sort of like silicone, then laid these recycled rubber bricks into it. It was expensive 30 years ago.

Drives, yes typically I would scrounge the lumber but I really want to get this one behind me, summer is coming. I have about 40, 10' timbers that I harvested from my pallets and I would like to build or buy a resaw or band saw then I can cut dimensional lumber from them.

Pines, I'll discuss that plan with Pat and get back to you on some options. When we were kids they would let us haul off everything at a building site so they didnt have to pick it up, not so any more.

Uncle Willie, I dont blame you Nashville isn't where I would live either, Pat and I have said that if we hit the lottery we would get a place over your way, that is beautiful country.

Kay, I didnt give enough info on that patio, there are two sets of steps, and the patio and the sun porch share a slab so I cant elevate it any. It's going to need to be some kind of paint on type of application. I'll get a pic of it tomorrow and post it. I would like to do something like those epoxy garage floor coatings, if they can take outdoor life

You better ask the gurus in the flooring threads. One of the sales monkeys must know. Any floor coating that survives weather and foot traffic seems also to be kinda hard n fragile.

I went back to the shop today, I have been thinking through some things in the basement so I took a brake.
20220223_155326.jpg
I cut out some brackets to mount the swing arm to the cart frame.
20220223_181320.jpg
I used some clamps and located everything, measured twice weld once.
20220223_183701.jpg
They got tacked into place. And remeasured, all is well.
20220223_192942.jpg
The wheelbase is a bit longer than before, I took a quick look and I could shorten the wheelbase by five inches but I'm not sure I want to do that.
20220223_193217.jpg
I can trim the damage off and reshape the rear fenders, or I could just build a new body!!!

It would only be parts of the body and only the skin, it wouldn't be much, but I still haven't decided.

I worked on getting the RV unhooked, folded up, disconnected, and jacked up and put the tires back on it.
20220224_122746.jpg
Before
20220224_134303.jpg
After, I took them off to lower it down, its unrealistic how tall some of these things are.
20220224_122735.jpg
I had forgot that I took the spare off, had to put the mount back on the bumper.
It gets delivered to Athens tomorrow and the new owner is taking it off the grid in New Mexico, good luck with that!
I sold my steam cleaner today also, had to go get the tractor to load it, good luck to him too!!
Spent the rest of the day making a gear reduction assembly for my drill press, it's a dura craft and works great for wood but I'm tired of smoking drill bits.
20220224_190946.jpg
I had this strap with the bearing on it, it came off of a gas powered parking lot vacuum machine that I scrapped out, I turned the shaft to fit my pully, it had a pully welded to it that was in the way, and I will trim the bracket to align with a bolt already in the drill press.
20220224_190743.jpg
I left the shaft long until I'm sure of the final fit. I will need to flip one of the pullys in the press,

Any chance of finding a another body smashed in the front? Would there be enough material if you cut a diagonal slice in front of the rear wheel well to make it work?

There is, I had six of these carts and I sold five of them to a man that wanted to go into restoring and selling them. And there is a cart store in town that dose some custom work, I'm sure they have a body. I thought about cutting and extending it to match the w/o. I haven't been able to spend any quality time with it.
I was going to deliver the RV today but it rained really hard last night and the back yard is a swamp. Looks like I'll go back to the basement today.

I need to finish the basement and get that one off my list, I'm still unsure which way I'm heading on the cart Tony but it will be different!
All of the weight was on the timbers under the axles, those just took a little spring out of the floor. Good call tho, keep an eye on me John

We are looking at a rainy week here too. This constant wet around here is really getting old.
I need to move somewhere that is constantly 65*-78*. Does such a place exist?

Climate and Average Weather Year Round in Cleveland Tennessee, United States. In Cleveland, the summers are hot and muggy; the winters are short, cold, and wet; and it is partly cloudy year round. Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from 32°F to 88°F and is rarely below 19°F or above 94°F ...

I got this off of the internet. It is one of the reasons I moved here, the hospitality was the other. It's the kind of place where you can strike up a conversation with a stranger and will usually find out you have mutual friends already.
The seven day forecast is high 60s today to 79 next Monday.
And I still haven't decided what to do today, right now I'm going to wash the dishes, Pat is down with a toothache so I put her out of service.

That Woman packs a loaded 38 and has dead eye aim, I dont even joke about such things! Lol. She has a toothache,
Her doc sent a script to wally world and Kay and me went and got it and some dinner, they have two grilled pork chops and a baked tater for 7 bucks at the grocery store down the road from the house.

I did get to work in the basement for a bit.

I wanted a curb at the coal room so I clamped two 2x4s at the door and poured a homemade mix into it.

Yea, that's going to take some thought, I haven't kept track of that room, usually there is stuff piled in front of the door. Now the door is off and I'm seeing in there everytime I go to the basement. I got a lot of water in there last week so I will need to do several things. 1, there is an access hole on the patio it's about 18" in diameter, it will need the steel liner cut out of it and be poured with concrete. 2, there is a thin crack in the patio that runs across the entire width of the room, I cant see the crack inside the room but I'm sure its there, it will need to be V-notched and filled with hydraulic cement. Then I'm sure the patio will get coated with something, I'm not sure what at this point but it can only be a coating, I cant raise the elevation more than about a ¼".
3, I have always thought that I would put 2" ridge foam on the cieling of the room to help, the patio gets about 6 hours of direct Tennessee sun every day and the basement and room are air conditioned, I'm thinking the concrete is about 6" thick so condensation is a concern. 4, The room will get psi washed as it is still covered in coal dust and then a good block sealer will be applied (before the 2" foam is installed).
So that's about where my head is at right now. I think I need an aspirin.

@harley jim , check out your White Cap store. I've never bought a bad thing there. And they make pretty good product recommendations, too. They carry Tremco coatings. Some of them are flexible, crack sealing, pedestrian use kinda stuff. An acquaintance speaks highly of the Tremco PUMA line.

We used a urethane liquid membrane product on some of our concrete buildings, but it has been about 20 years ago. It has held up pretty well with zero leaks. The product was called Decothane, but I think the company was bought out by Sika and they may have renamed it.

I delivered the RV today, so theres one off my plate. I also picked up my dump trailer from the bil's house, he's only had it for five months, I'm going to go dump it tomorrow. Then I'm going to put it behind the shop and shoot the next sob that asked to borrow it.

Sorry Drives, didnt mean to inflict a migraine. It's going to be a combination of fixes as I'm sure it's not one specific thing. I downloaded some pics today but they vanished so I'll try again tomorrow.

Welder, that's what I'm thinking also after the crack is repaired I'll put some type of coating on it.

I am definitely going to check out white cap, just haven't had a chance, too much going on all at once.

I no longer loan or rent out my dump trailer. Everything I get it back something is broken. I will pull it for someone, but it stays hooked to my truck.

It worked out great Willie, I dumped the trailer and found a stainless steel tank that I think will work perfect for my next project. It was almost an even trade.

The rest of the day was a real treet!!!
I spent the afternoon pulling tee posts out of an old fence line in the woods, I'm going to need to finish the fence across the back of my property to secure my place. All of my neighbors are into free ranging there livestock and two boar hogs got in my yard today and attacked Pat and me, I emptied my 22 mag in the ground at there feet to scare them back while Pat got to the house then I wore there asses out with an oak staff all the way home. The neighbor said he would get rid of them, I told him the next time I will kill them. I cant take a chance on Hefe being outside and something like that happening, he only weighs 16 lbs and the hogs could kill him.

Fun Fact, A hog cant turn there head sideways so as long as your upright they can only bite your toes not your leg but it still isn't any fun. The bil will be here tomorrow to help put up fence.

The two perps, they arnt big but they have no fear of anything, they are half wild half domestic.
Then it just got plain boared (pun intended) so I mowed the lawn and then had an adult beverage. I need a bath.

Free range livestock means free food to me.
I hate pigs. They're sneaky, evil, dangerous SOBs. My grandad had them once. Never again. If they weren't escaping, they were trying to knock you down to do you in.

It's frustrating to see people not take care of their animals. We had a Duroc boar that weighed close to 900lbs when he finally became sausage. Gentlest, friendliest baby you've met. Sows were usually a little more fussy, but only ever had one that was even close to being mean. Had a mean roster once. Out of 4 horses, two dogs, a bunch of cats, dozens of chickens, maybe a dozen beef steer, and hundreds of hogs, two bad ones isn't bad. And Ziggy, the boar, would get his front feet up on the 4' tall side of a stall, and look a 6' man in the eyes.

my friend that lives in my barn out back is having his cousin staying with him this week. She showed me a picture of her pet hog
About 200 lbs and it sleeps in the house.
I told her not to show it to Ann because she wants one. So the very first thing the cousin did when she met Ann was to say " I was told not to show you this so here it is "
Now I have that fight on my hands again.
