I did get the new door installed today, slow and steady.

I had to cut all new trim to fit the new door, I'm going to paint it before I install it.

It's going to get cold tonight and be cold for a few days so I covered the chicken coop with plastic, I also pulled all of the water hoses and generally got us ready for winter.

The chickens should be fairly snug in the coop with that upgrade.

You will enjoy having that large window in that new door to be able to look out into the porch.

Kirk, I'm happy with the coop, the temp will be at 20° around 3:00 am and 9° by 8:00 tomorrow so I'm going to turn on a heat lamp when I get up.

Tony, that's what Kirk said, it's the last remnant of the old house, so the 70's are gone for good. I was dreading the install, not knowing what was inside the wall but it wasn't too bad.

So what is left to finish the porch, Jim?

I spent seven hours today puttying holes and priming everything.

Some of the pieces like the window frames and some door trim needed to be finish painted before installing, because the walls are finished and I didnt want to cut in the paint.


All of this is door trim.

Tomorrow I can put all of the pieces together and fill the holes, then everything gets a final coat of high-gloss white.

The only thing I wont get done before Christmas will be the new stoop, I'm going to build a wood landing and steps that will cover this mess. And we are thinking about getting carpet squares to put on the floor, if not we will paint it. That will about check this one off of the list. I have surgery on my knee January 20th, I want to be done by then.

Already had both replaced, there going in and removing scar tissue, doing the left one on the 20th then the right as soon as possible, I'm trying to get back in shape by spring.

I totally get that! I've had people that I've built furniture for or done something in their house whatever it may be....you get done and they say "nice" or "cool". Thanks.....you realize this took 47 hours haha. When people don't understand the process I get it, but it's nice when people actually know what it took to get there.

I got to a good point tonight.
I still have some touch up painting to do and really I think I may put a second coat on the face trim, I'll have to inspect it in the daylight.
I'll start on the steps Monday and right now we are thinking we want to put carpet squares on the floor!

I got to go to my office in the basement today and just hang out, while I was there I put together a Christmas present that Pat bought me last year!



These are the worst directions that I have ever seen!
I'm guessing that I can go to YouTube and find out how to set up the limit switches and level it, and operate it!!!

Anyway, its assembled, I'm going to need something to do once they cut on my knee next month.
