Hey guys, thought I would share my senior project with you. I am an engineering student at Purdue and had to design something for a senior project. I chose to design a wide glide front end using a 3 inch wider front tire than stock.

The projected consisted of developing a new axle, top and bottom triple clamps, wheel and caliper spacers.

I designed all the parts in solidworks and did the stress analysis as well. I took it a step further than most other class mates, I MADE THEM!!!! No one else made anything, just the drawings. Where is the fun in that???

Here are the illistrations from solidworks.

Here is the drawing for the bottom clamp.

Once I had them designed, it was time to test them. I calculated the force that would be exerted on the front wheel when hitting a 4" bump at 80mph. I used that value and did the analysis in solidworks.

After this, it was time to build them! Here are some pictures of the build!

Fine job on the trees. From knowing what is right to making them yourself.
Good looking scooter. I like the wide trees AND the spoke wheel. The gaiters are the right touch. If I may suggest, drag bars or slightly lower risers for that bad boy.

All the best,
Dale

Hey Dale, ya I will be doing something with the bars. I built those z bars and had them powder coated in the after picture. But to be honest they are not that comfortable.
