I have been reading this forum for over a year.

I've been riding Harley motorcycles since 1976 and do most of my own work. Until now, I mostly worked on my bikes on the street, then in a parking lot, then in a 10x10 storage shed, and 3 years ago I had half of a 2 car garage. I finally got the OK from my wonderful woman to allow me to build a little 350 sq. ft. workshop for my Harley hobby.

I can't list all the information I used that I read here on this forum. Instead I thought I would just share the finished product. Thanks for all the great ideas/information..

Welcome. Great place, very clean. I like the exposed beam, really adds a nice touch.

Wow! A bathroom too! Between that and pizza delivery, you never have to leave the shop!

That's a quality little shop. Beautiful building, love the roof tiles, and like others have said the interior and that lift are awesome. Definitely looks like a fun place to hang out in.

Thanks all, it was a fun project, and I like the result. I managed to use all the available space on that side of the house... I couldn't have made it any bigger if I wanted to...

To answer the questions:

The decal is inlaid. I bought a large, waterproof trailer decal. I installed it on the epoxy floor, and then put a couple coats of the clear coat over the decal. It got a touch cloudy because of the thickness of the clear coat I applied... but I didn't want it to peel off

The lift is a K&L MC625R, 1750lb capacity that will raise to 40". It was between this one and a Handy. On this one, the lift doesn't roll over the floor like the Handy. The scissor mechanism works within the bottom frame. Easier on the floor.

I ran out of room, so as of yet, no fridge. But I'm still trying to find a place to put it... :)

The interior door is actually a back door. There is a small, covered back porch that looks over the canyon behind our house.

It was the first time I did anything like this. My friend, who did most of the work and had all the know-how, is a contractor. It was no big deal to him, but I learned a lot about the whole construction process. He worked my **** off and now that it's finished I can say I'm glad he let me help.....

Surely you can find room for a small, dorm size fridge. No man cave is complete without one!

You had me at Harley Workshop. :)
Looks good! Great space and clean, I wish I could cut the clutter in my space.

I see you have both the J&S and the K&L, which do you find yourself using most of the time?

Asking because I have the J&S and have been thinking about getting a table lift.

The J&S was part of a progression. I still use it, but use the table more.

I had a Sears jack that worked fine for about 7 years with my Softail. I put my Ultra on it, and it just wasn't near sturdy enough for my tastes.

Because of the Ultra, I got the J&S. It's exponentially better than the Sears.

I can probably do everything on the J&S that I can do on the table. It's just that with the table, there is absolutely no bending involved. I can lift the bike 40" and work on the primary without bending over. I can also adjust the table to sit on my work-bench stool and work on any part of the bike.

The J&S is the best jack I've used. A lift table is just another animal altogether. But I have no intention of getting rid of the J&S....

Thats a great lift. I have its little brother, the MC615R. K&L is local to me, so I picked it up at their warehouse in person.

Excellent! Pictures, please!

I need to finish the landscaping around the shop, but here are two pics of the back porch area.

The first is the porch, the second is the view from the porch.

It'll be a great place to unwind or to take a break if a project isn't going well. My Great Dane has already claimed the porch slab as his afternoon nap spot...!

All around nice place. Add a beer fridge, stereo, TV and a good couch to nap on and you're "retired"...

Nice space! Lots of interesting details - floor, paint, ridge beam, workbench, lift and a nice view out the back! I might have been tempted to put some glass on the back door as that canyon view is pleasant - your pooch has good taste!

Funny, but originally I was just going to paint the ridge beam..... luckily my lady & my friend talked me out of it... it looks better than I could visualize.

If only I had listened to them about having a window in the back door too... :lol_hitti
