KD is made in China and the threads are very very rough on the ones I've.

I've got that set (rebranded for Napa) and I have used it on several things but on nothing severly stuck to where it would break the puller. Overall it's a very nice set.
Mines made in Taiwan, not china.

I use super-lube on the screw threads too, FWIW.

Definitely don't cheap out on a harmonic balancer puller. I have an older MAC one that's USA made and its paid for it self already. But USA if you can!

Right on. You can pick up a used Snap-on one for decent money, i paid about a third of retail for a good used one, and the pressure screw works on one of my hub pullers, some interchangeable parts on it.

I also use a Mac. Works great.

If the Napa is the same as KD, I believe Cripe currently has them on Ebay.

I have a Plews puller I bought from the parts store in the '80's that has pulled many dampers.

Before that I had the real cheap set in the red tray that didn't work very well and the threads got screwed up. It might have worked better if I had known then to lube the threads.
