Or not. Around here none of them will put the rental money back on your card..

So hand them cash? :headscrat

I put everydamnthing on my card and wouldn't care if it took a while to come back, but our card processor at work takes up to a full week to process a refund. More than 1 customer has gotten all worked up that it took forever... and that's not us sitting on your money for any gain of our own... it batches out the night we refund it and is gone, the rest of the wait is the processor. I've told people if it's a debit card and will be tying up actual money for them, do a split and pay cash for the rental (or core charge), then get cash back.

Or just go buy one from HF... how many times you planning on doing this? TBH I've used one of theirs professionally before, several times, and not broken it. Just get some real bolts in whatever size you want, the ones in the box are garbage. I sheared the heads right off bolts with the rental at work pulling the flywheel off my mower engine.

Rarely do i carry cash, it just annoys me for some reason.

As to frequency of use, i really dont know. It could be once a year or several times a year, depending on how badly i beat up on my k5 after the engine swap.

I just prefet to buy the tool i need so that if im in the middle of something and need it, i dont have to stop, go find the tool for rent, bring it home etc... rather just go to the closet, pull out the case, use it, put it back.

I bought a cheap one from Pep-Boys many years ago. Still have it, thought I have welded together bolts to make custom adapters for it.

It isn't something where you need the top dollar one.

I have the gold blue point one. It works on 90% of cars and trucks. The other 10% need the style with bolts and a foot to pull

I've had a lisle one for 20+ years, used professionally for 15 or so years. Not sure if they are still made in USA like mine though

Don't forget you will need an installer too.

Autozone will If You run the transaction as credit it will return it as credit as long as you return it within 30 days. Hit the green button when it asks you for a pin and sign on the pin pad.

HF one at 13.99 will do the job for occasional use, easy enough expend the kits bolts and washers .

I have a the OTC 525 2 pc puller set I bought years and years ago hasn't failed me and is always there when I need it. I have sourced xtra bolts for use with different thread not found in the kit.

It's always best to use an installer no matter what engine and I've found they make it easier. When you put a balancer back on the crank the factory bolt usually only has a few threads in when you start putting torque on it trying to pull the pulley back on. The installer also uses a thrust bearing to pull the pulley on. It eliminates pounding the pulley on which can damage the crank and also the chance of stripping out the threads in the crank from using the factory bolt to pull the pulley on. I've done it without many times but after I bought a installer it makes it a lot nicer and I feel a lot more comfortable.

I also have this one for power steering pulleys: OTC 4530 Power Steering Pulley Puller/Installer Set paid $36 for it, ordered it the same time as the harmonic balancer puller and installer, I mentioned above. Used it one as well, no problems. I like OTC tools have several. Hope this helps.
