I just picked up a oxy acetylene torch from a coworker. He bought it somewhere around the 70s. Its a harris brand handle and has a heater nozzle on it. I am wondering what the compatibility for cutting attachments is? The heater nozzle has a female coupling, do victor or current harris attachments fit this handle?

The one I got looks exactly like the picture attached.

Do you have the regulators to go with it? Do you have hoses and the tanks?

What is pictured is the welding tips of various sizes. The coupling in the center unscews and the cutting torch head would screw on.

There are different sizes of torch bodies... Take it to the local welding supply store and see what fits. Or you could google your exact torch body and find which parts work with yours....

Have you received training in using a torch?

It came with tanks, regulators and hoses. I suspect the hoses might be shot as it hasn't been used in many years. I will probably replace the o-rings on the torch assembly as well. I have used an oxy acetylene torch many times, just not well versed on cross compatibility of heads.

As above, take it with you when you find one to buy. Picture shows a Harris cutting head that I just sold for $30. It did not fit the Victor medium unit that I use.

Still have a couple of tips, if you are close by (and need them).

No, Victor tips or attachments will not fit a Harris torch handle. (caveat, unless it is a Harris V-series Victor-compatible one.)

To see what attachments or tips you could use, check the torch handle model number.

Then go to the Lincoln Electric website (Lincoln bought Harris a bunch of years ago) and look up a catalog or info on what tips/attachments you could use with that torch handle.

Or contact Lincoln (call, email, whatever) and just ask them what items are compatible with your torch handle.

And the tips you pictures are welding type tips. You can use them (carefully!) for heating or soldering or brazing, although they typically have a 'focused' flame tip needed for welding. So-called 'heating tips' (to me at least) are usually the 'rosebud' type tips (multi-flame heating tip).

Do NOT just go willy-nilly replacing O-rings! They must be the proper size AND the proper material to be compatible with both the fuel gas AND the oxygen.

It’s a model 63-2. I gave her a test run tonight and she runs like a champ.

The cutting attachment to use with a Harris 63-2 torch handle is the Harris 73-3. Uses Harris 6290 cutting tips.

The welding tips depend on which mixer is on the torch handle.

It's all in the Harris catalog.

And yes, if the hoses are from the 70's then just replace them.

72-3 or 73-3?

The catalog says that the 73-3 cutting attachment is compatible with the 63-2 handle (which is no longer available).

https://www.harrisproductsgroup.com...t/Torches/Cutting-Attachments/Model-73-3.aspx

The 72-3 cutting attachment is for use with the 85 handle.

Got questions? Hit Harris' live chat and ask them tech (or any other appropriate  ) questions. Available from their web pages.

Their live chat was no help. I searched for some historic catalogs but cant find anything.
