Harris welding torch, tips info

I have had an oxy/acetylene rig for a while now, I have a Harris handle, with a cutting torch (only ever had to use for cutting). Anyway, I want to venture in to brazing, and heating with the same handle.

My understanding is Harris requires a mixer in between the handle and the tip. I purchased a #5 welding tip, and a Harris compatible rosebud.

Now, what mixer do I need to buy? The best diagram I found is from McMaster Carr
http://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/121/3404
And I assume that since I have a medium duty handle, I would need a D-85 mixer? I have found it for $25 on ebay, or $30 on Amazon.

Can someone confirm this, or clarify any misunderstanding I have?:dunno:

Thanks!

If it was designed for cutting I would think it has the mixer built in. Usually you just unscrew the cutting torch from the body and add a rosebud or welding/brazing tips. Do you have any pictures? It may be an older style that is all one piece.

I guess I was on the wrong part, I was thinking the mixer was the valves on the body. My bad, but that search really threw me off my game.

The mixer is not in the handle of two piece torches. Quite a few torch companies build their welding and heating tips with the nozzle and mixer as one unit. Some have models that allow the nozzle to thread off the mixer. I prefer Smith which can be swapped with just your hand no wrench needed.

Smith is what I am used to. I haven't used a lot of other brands.
