Hi,

I have to admit I just stumbled on the Harry J. Epstein site two days ago....my new favorite tool place for sure. Love that it's a small business, salt of the earth owners. Anyway I kind of embarrassed as a "tool guy" to just have found these guys. I'm lame I guess. Love made in USA tools.

PS: I've already place two orders.

Peace my friends.

Odie

Not sure of your location, but regardless, the are worth a road trip! I am fortunate to make it there twice a year. I've already set back money for when I'm home Christmas. It is just a unique building and arrangement of tools. The upper floors and basement are like a different world!

When the girls were growing up and we visited KC it was always. There mother goes I will take the girls and you can go visit your boring store. The girls would look at me and go you are going to THE store? Yes. Sorry mommy we are going with daddy. There was just so much to explore and see it was an adventure. A learning adventure.

It was helping daddy find out where what he was looking for since it was like a giant hide and seek. Also Daddy what is this for. Lets see if we can see what dad wants for his birthday. But mom says this is boring. She can get it on line.

Every guy needs a place like this.

That is a great story! Sounds like a lot of pretty neat memories. Thanks for sharing.

A couple of years ago I was TDY at Fort Leavenworth for a week. I rented a car and drove down to see if they were open and they weren't. Maybe the next time I'll stay a couple days longer and go visit them.

I've never been there but have been an occasional customer since not long after I joined here. The building is twice as big as I'd imagined!

Maybe I spoke too soon....my order was completed 4 days ago, but hasn't shipped yet, just label created. Small gripe, i'm sure tools will be great.

its a cool place, im in the area and anytime im downtown i stop there. although its not set up too much for walk in customers, they certainly will let you walk around. but nothing is priced and the organization is kind of all over. One time i was there and asked if they had a certain strap, the guy takes me up to the upper floor on an old freight elevator thats probably original to the building, the second floor is just as packed as the first floor. i really love the place for shovel/hammer handles

Update...i received one of my orders now, tools were great. The first order i made hasn't arrived yet and haven't been provided shipping info, i've reached out to customer service twice and no response. Unfortunately probably be last time i order from HJE, I was pretty excited about them, but don't like to have to spend time chasing down orders.

Check that....they responded via email about an hour after my last post. Sounds like box art is reason for delay.

I was introduced to HJE via this message board and I am so happy to have been. Awesome people and an awesome selection of tools.

The box art is freaking cool, but yes, it does delay the shipping. I typically order knowing I don’t need the tools anytime soon so I can get that sweet, sweet box art.

Yeah i understand that box art would delay shipping, this was my first time ordering from them, now I know. Also in "my account" it showed the items as shipped, but no tracking number or anything of that nature. But i appreciated they responded.
