I am getting ready to buy Versatile building systems Roll on Rock chip floor garage epoxy. They have a two gallon 97% epoxy kit with a two gallon polyurea top coat and 100 lbs of chips for $481 including shipping. They say no primer needed, direct to concrete. The kit covers 450 sq/ft but I have 515 with my foundation walls so I'll get an extra gallon of base coat ($69).
Then they say to use a clear primer over the chips before the polyurea for extra build and to help the two gallons of polyurea stretch over the 515 sq/ft. That'll be an extra $148 for 1.5 gal. for the primer

They also say only grind if theres a sealer but I have no way of knowing what the concrete was poured with. Water soaks in slowly and the cement gets darker but if you look at it closely, its kind of shiny. I wonder if they put a con-film or something to slow the cure time down. Its kind of common in Utah in the summer time. I think I'll grind to be safe. VBP says NOT TO ACID ETCH PERIOD!!! Something about "dead concrete top layer" and "not sticking" or somthing like that. Acid seems messy and having to nutralize it and everything.
So when I grind with a one head diamond grinder do i use water with it or just vaccum during the grind and lots of vacuuming after??? Then do I use their cleaner/degreaser, then power wash??? I'll let it dry for afew days even though they say that the epoxy will go over damp concrete. These suppliers are for Pro Installers so they can coat a garage in a day or two.

This is my first floor but their pot life's sound pretty long and I hope to have help from a painter friend, so polyurea seems pretty good to me and I think I can spead it in time. The uv protection and the durability from the product too.

If anyone has input or advice conserning this project, please let me know.

Thanks,,
