I was wondering if anybody out there has lengthened their lift? i need a lift or some other way, (if anybody has some other ideas) on being able to lift a car to a height of 102" to the height of my mezzanine. bendpak has one that exceeds that height for a bunch money, but im really trying to avoid that.. any ideas or info i would appreciate it
thanks
matt
How much is considered to be 'a bunch of money'?
Just curious of the price difference between the lift that would do the job vs which lift you want to go with and modify?
The only somewhat safe thing you can really do is put large pads under the 4 posts and the ramps just won't go to the ground anymore and you would just need longer approach ramps to get onto the drive ramps..
Otherwise your talking about re-engineering the entire lift to extend the columns at the top if that's what your thinking, you'd need longer cables, different hydraulic ram, rework of the locking system, longer hoses from the pump to the ramps, as well as extending the posts themselves. Might as well build your own from scratch at that point.
I can tell you I would not step anywhere near a lift that had column extensions welded to the top of the stock ones..
Having a building with a mezzanine you can park a car on seems like you may be well off enough to swing the price of the proper lift. Although I do understand the love of building or modding stuff for fun, satisfaction, and the experience..
