just wanted to know if they deal with regular non-company costumers....

As far as I know they will not deal with any non-commerical customer. You must have an account, be a business. Also keep in mind.. if you buy something from them that has a lifetime warranty. Keep your receipt, etc. They will not warranty items not purchased through them.

Yep, just walk in and buy something.
I have been told they will sell to some one without a company account one time. So far I have walked in three times and bought on all three occasions. Each time they tell me I am allowed a one time purchase. Two of the times I have picked up items in stock and one time it needed to be ordered from another branch.

Like many business's, they do have policies in place to protect the core business that they do business with. They also are customer friendly, and realize that occasional cash customers are not an inconvenience, but an asset for additional revenue. I have an account there, but usually it is just as easy for me to pay on the spot, then to have them bill me. Great company to do business with. I love the "special order" items that they get stuck with and put out for sale in the showroom at deep discounts.

I have bought from them for a long time and do not have a business or an account. I usually pay by cash or credit card. They just put the purchase on some other companies account.
They are not supposed to sell to people "off the street" but I think it just depends which Grainger you go to. The only time I have ever been to a Grainger I had a Proto ratchet replaced with no questions asked, even though I didn't buy it from them. They just used my employer's account (I wasn't even aware they had one when I walked in).

I set up an account on their website, and have had no problems buying from them. Since they are close by, I have the item put into will-call and I pick it up. I have found that they don't usually have what I want in stock, but they get it.
When I used to work at a larger company, Grainger would deliver to us once or twice a day and once a week two ladies would come into our test lab and re-stock our fasteners for us.

I have bought from them as an individual and have been pleased with product, and service. They give a discount to anyone who has Farm Bureau insurance. You give a codewith order and get discount. Find someone with a copy of F/B magazine "Back Porch"; check their ad

I needed a 3/8ths, nc pully tap, and was supposed to go to one of our local ones (18th ? street, KC), and don't have an account (although, I have been given authorization from a few friends business if need be).
It was 11pm at night, I looked it up on their website, found a phone number, and called for their store hours. I reached an order line (phone transfers after close), and she told me which store had the tap (multiple, including the closest), took my order and CC info, and placed it at the will call for my local store.
I had NO problems.

I had lots of trouble ordering online even though my employer has an account there. So I asked my father to pick something up for me. He walked in and bought the product without any issues. They even let him have a catalog.
Like most companies, they are affected by the slow economy and are looking for ways to maintain sells.
I use my company account for personal purchases with company discount.
They will sell to anyone off the street; you just have to talk to a specific counterman who does these type of sells.

They may be affected by the slow economy, but this selling method is nothing new, and has been in place for the past 38 years that I have been dealing with them. The only thing that has changed in those 38 years are the prices have risen, and the amount of items that they sell has improved. Service is as great today as it was 38 years ago, except that the cute young girl behind the counter is different....

I didn't even know they had a "business policy" in place. I've never ran into an issue at all.
