...an overhead hoist setup that is removeable?

I RENT my house & 2 car garage, so I don't want to (can't) attach the 2 ton chain hoist to the trusses like a normal builder would. I had the idea of making a "bolt-together" A-frame setup inside the garage that I could un-bolt and take with me if/when I ever move... anyone ever done this? I could sure use some ideas if there has ever been a post about it, I can't find one.

I need the hoist for my granite business, pull the pickup in with a monument on it, drive under the hoist, lift the granite out, exit the truck, place the monument on the (rolling) work table and get busy - that is the goal. The A-frame could sit flat on the ground, it does not have to move.

I'm toying with this idea and could sure use some advice. I will have a small hoist on the pickup too, but one in the shop out of the weather would be ideal.

portable gantry crane.

Do a google search, you will find lots of them. If you are lifting more than a few pounds, you probably should use something that is professionally engineered and manufactured.

Something like this.

This thread has some discussion about them. I have a pic of mine in there.

I made my adjustable gantry crane and fashioned it after a Wallace 3 ton tri adjustable model ( before they were round tube in that size) here is a URL to the Wallace site They are rather $$$ to buy from them but it was not too bad to make it. Mine is adjustable to 15' wide and from about 9-15 feet tall.
