So awhile back I was at a swap meet and saw this little ratchet at the bottom of a box filled with crappy Chinese imports short and thumb ratchets. I almost didn’t give it a second though but the little rubber cap caught my eye. So I pulled it out of the box and
As I was pulling it someone called my name so
I looked away and right then my mom said hey look it’s a snap on. She knows what snap on tools are worth because starting a 9 years old I was on that tool truck buying tools even had 1500 credit limit.
So I asked the the guy he said i was asking 10 but everyone seems
To think it’s missing a handle and no takers and told me how does 2 bucks sound. Put 2 bucks in his hands and on I went. Nice little ratchet works good not a super
Fine tooth count but for 2 buck I was not complaining. After further inspection the end of the ratchet just didn’t seem right. So I tried looming it up no luck and even my snap on guy was sure either witch I found that odd or he
Just may have been busy. But either way any ideas? IMG_1223.JPGView attachment 1View attachment 1View attachment 1

I got only 1 picture to load. It looks like someone welded something onto the handle....but more and better pictures are needed.

Yup. I can show you the receipts I still have the little red booklet they gave me some where around here some where. Mainly it was because I started working with my dad at 8 at his shop. Well not so much working the first year. But the follow summer he started to put me to work doing oil changes and basic stuff. I bought a craftsman tool box roller that summer. Then the follow summer a very good long time customer of my dads was move and he had this tool box he didn’t know what to do with. So my dad said we would go check it out. Turns out it was a snap on roller too and bottom box. So I filled both of those boxes up as quick as I could getting tools from everywhere lol.

Also here are more pictures. It looks like a “7” just stamped weird.

That’s a horrible thing to do to a torque wrench lol I couldn’t bring myself to do that. I will say that’s not a bad stubby though.

I concur it's from a torque wrench. This is a similar item made by Armstrong.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Armstrong-C6324M-60J-1-2-Drive-Ratchet-Assembly-Armstrong-Torque-Wrench-/392029996804?hash=item5b46cf0704

This would be a replacement part, though normal person really wont be replacing something like this as it would not likely be cost effective I would guess. It does make a nice stubby ratchet as mentioned or could be made into a specialty tool of sorts.

If you have a junk torque wrench that isnt worth fixing why not make something useful?

because starting a 9 years old I was on that tool truck buying tools even had 1500 credit limit.

I'm sorry, but that's ridiculous. Giving a nine year old a $1500 credit limit for anything is really bad parenting. My son recently graduated from med school, but at nine years old there's no way I would have given him him a $1500 credit limit for anything. You need to teach children to be careful with money and live within their means. You don't learn that by getting into debt on a Snap-on truck before puberty.

Sorry for this flame. I'm sure your parents meant well, and it seems they must have done everything else right. Take care.
