Has anyone ever traded multiple boxes in at once?

Home gamer here, but I have a Matco double bay and Snap On Heritage 40” upper/lower combo that I was hoping to trade in for a single triple bay or a double bay 54-56” upper/lower combo.

Obviously selling private online would pry yield the best results, but has anyone ever traded in two boxes at once? What was your experience?

Tool dealers can usually wheel and deal pretty liberally on boxes. Used boxes sell really easily for most tool dealers, I bet most of them would entertain a multiple trade in if they can sell you a new box.

Fellow home user. I traded a 37 year old set of Snap On KR plus a much more recent 72 inch Harbor Freight box for my KRL1022. As long as the dealer thinks they can resell it, they will take it in trade.

I had no problems trading boxes with the Snap-On Dealers that serviced the Dealerships. They had a list of customers looking for a used box.

Better than market. But the dealer really wanted my old school KR stack. I still probably paid too much for the KRL.

I'm not surprised he wanted that one. When I finally found an old KR, I fixed it up and sold my KRL. If your box never moves, it probably doesn't matter, but the KR is just really solid.

Like cars, dicker about the price of the new box before ever bringing up trade-in. Otherwise you really don't know what you're getting for the old boxes.

Sound advice there as well. What is the going rate on something like a base Matco 4S or Snappy Classic 96 relative to MSRP? I'm seeing $7400 and $7000 MSRP for those, respectively.

Do not pay MSRP for a toolbox. They depreciate like crazy, and no one pays that anyway.

If it was me, I’d skip the classic line and jump straight to masters, Epiq, or 6s. I wouldn’t pay more than 5 or 6 grand, depending on box.

I was getting offers of 5k for a brand new KRL triple when I was shopping a year or so ago.

Before buying my new krl1032, I considered various options, including trading in my 1033 , plus my single bay krl7xx stack on something in the epiq line.

Trade in is based on resale ability. Buying well worn boxes via craigslist will still put you in a positive trade in value. Iirc I was offered 7k or so trade value for the pair of boxes. Imo the single bay was over valued, and the triple was under valued. A cheap single is always easier to sell though.

Let them play the shell game however they like, its the final dollar amount that matters. I got a "free" solus legend, by overpaying for the 1032. I wanted a solus legend, and the box. I negotiated a total price. Call it whatever you like, I pay the total price. They has 90 days same as cash, which was nice. Wrote a thousand dollar check every week until it was paid off.

Yes you loose, simple common sense tells you they not trully going be paying over market prices for used boxes and giving you the new one at good deal price as well .
It just manipulation of numbers that makes some people believe it magical deal ...
They make it look like you getting great money on your used boxes but that because they not giving you best deal on new box .
If your used boxes good order always sell privately and then straight clean deal on a new box .

Depend on box size. Selling a triple bay for 5k on craigslist is much harder than a 722 for 2k.

They only hard sell if overpriced and/or trashed .
Good box especially snapon sells itself and pretty easily if make effort in advertisement and clean the box .
