Has anyone used "next day carpet" ?

We're all set to move into our new house . Except...the carpets
(30+ ? years old) might or might not come clean. If not--it could be 2 or 3 weeks till conventional sources can come through. Can anyone give feedback about this place on TV..."I only paid for this much !" You know who I mean. Is it a ripoff ? Limited selection ? Lousy product ?

the high pressure sales tactics used are amazing #1 and the installers generally look like they just got released pm me i'll tell you what i really think about them warning not work safe

they are usually ex ccar sale people

support you local carpet dealer and save trust me on this one

I've heard mixed reviews about the next day carpet outfits. I've heard BETTER (using Better loosely) things about Lowe's and Home Depot if your looking for carpet quick. One thing about places like Lowe's and Home Depot or any other installer, if your not yet moved into the house, there is no personal effects that can be stolen if thats a concern. I've also heard that the big box stores are surprisingly pretty particular about their subs being drug tested and backgrounded checked; I wouldn't buy carpet from anyone who doesn't have a storefront, and that means I wouldn't buy from a "briefcase" outfit like Empire.

The whole experience is horrible it really is. and i went through it TWICE. Basically in a nut shell. I needed carpet called teh # got an appontment guy comes in

Used car sales routine i can only guarantee price till midnight just a small deposit holds it etc i hated the whole experience.
then install day comes ******* GOODIE the 2 guys that show up look like danny trejo on a 3 week bender smell like alcohol and arrive at 11 am instead of the agrred upon 8 they took 0 care not to damage anything and generally used enough obsinaties in every sentence to make me blush. THAT is a lot of ******* cursing every 45 minutes or so it was imperative for them to run to the truck for a cigarette and phone convo. only to come back and say they didn't have enough carpet.

DAY 2 Comes i get a different installer team this one is slightly better but there is no more carpet that i ordered they can get me a SIMILAR one for only pennies more or i can wait 5 weeks till it's off back order. they keave and come back with a completely different rug than we already talked about.

We call smart carpet to try to get somewhere fat chancewe fianlly wound up getting a local guy to finich out the room for 60% of teh riginal price installed.

Fast forward 2 years got my first apartment has ORANGE **** carpetting in it

the weekend before i move in i call empire BBBAAAAADDDDDDDDD move

same high pressure sales tactics but i had to go to work

Sales ahole refused to leave until i signed a contract i called local pd who showed up like an hour later becasue it wasn't an emergency i was late for work anyway. i got a better deal going to lowes for that appt

the old guy on the Empire commercials creeps me out for some reason. i'd never deal with them based on that alone.

kinda like the old fart Eharmony guy, he was waaaaay too interested in the "deep, deep compatibility" thing for my liking. i understand being enthusiastic about one's job, but too much is too much.

We recently used Empire on a rug and vinyl install at the parsonage of our church. Well first thing...there seems to be no such thing as a "next day carpet" They did install at an agreed date and the rug went in fine, I dont know about the quality (I didn't pick the rug) The installer broke a piece of baseboard in the process. I don't know how, we had the room all prepped for him, old rug and pad removed, staples removed and vacuumed. The vinyl guys were hacks. They have been back 3 times to fix bubbles and loose areas. They broke several pieces for baseboard in the process and did a crappy job of re-installing them.

I had a similar experience with HD as well although I have also had some good installs from them too. My advice to you and anyone who is interested in QUALITY is to patronize a local, established dealer who has THEIR OWN INSTALLERS. Plenty of these places exist. Obviously they won't even pretend that they're going to be there tomorrow but, they know their product and they know their installers. Even at that don't expect them to be english speaking Americans but my take is that when the installers work directly for the dealer, there is a little more at stake (like their paycheck) so there is a little more accountability.

If it works like any of the other installation services, chances are HD or Lowes farm out the labor to local guys so you get the best of both worlds...customer service of a very large customer oriented organization and local skilled labor (in theory).

Many state laws have a cooling off period, often 3 days, for stuff sold in-home so they rarely have to live up to the next day slogan. If you want to have them in and get their pitch, hey it's your time and not mine. But I wouldn't.

Any time I've bought carpet locally, they've always been able to do it (get it installed) as fast as I wanted and I was dealing with someone I could drive to and find if there was an issue.

Ok im in the carpet business mostly steam cleaning and second installation, i would first try and get the carpets steam cleaned... not sure how much carpet you have but youll be suprised how clean we can get them ...it has to be a truck mounted steam cleaner, go with a local co and ask if there equipment stays in the truck and can reach over 200 degrees, stanley steamer is a rip off they have good eqp but sock it to you after job is done, if you go the new carpet route go with home depo if you buy there product you can get the entire install done for $97 bucks or $37 if you buy there martha stewart stuff, now yes its box store carpet but who cares todays carpets are not ment to last more than 10 yrs under normal traffic, buy the BEST padding you can its the back bone of any rug!!!! and if at all possible if you can do your own tear out will save you money if you go with another co other than depo, also just a suggestion if the prev owns had pets ect when you tear out the old rug vaccum the floors and seal the wood or crete with a good either oil or latex paint even layers of odd lot mixed paint will work to help seal out odors and such from past spills urine ect. good luck and ask all questions before you sign anything if hd moves alot of furniture they do charge extra on that special i mentioned above. as far as next day ...save yourself the hassel.

We had Empire come out to do two rooms in our house. We didn;t live here yet, and a friend actually gave us the recommendation.

RUN!!!

High pressure sales, which don't work for me. And the offer all kinds of wacky discounts like AAA or Sam's Club member.

We used a local guy who was almost half the price of Empire. I vowed to tell anyone who asked about our experience.
