Has ratcheting wrenches made non ratcheting wrenches obsolete?

I agree with most.. They are nice, but do not fit everywhere and shouldn't be used with impacts.. I do use them to break fasteners loose manually, but I'm gentle.

You need at least one set of every type of tool, period. ;)

Shouldn't use a ratcheting box for initial loosening.
Ratcheting are almost always too bulky to cause clearance issues.
I just did brake hoses and lines this weekend that required an open-end just to loosen.

After the break job I'd even like one of the newer ratcheting open ends, even though I know they aren't the best.

I have debated the same thing, if speed was a concern of mine and I had the tool box space/shop space I would have a set of ratchet wrenches as well as my non ratcheting set...But I dont get in a hurry anymore and the regular non ratcheting wrenches get the job done just fine......I would never get rid of my non ratcheting wrenches and ONLY have ratchet style....
