i have this compressor that i got from a friend because it needs the pump rebuilt.

but even if i get it fixed it will put out just under what i'll need it to, because it only puts out 10cfm at 90psi and i'll need more than that for the amount of painting i do.

so my idea was to just replace it with this bigger pump, but i don't know if the motor i have will run this pump. my motor is a 220volt one.

I am assuming the motor you have is 5 hp if so that pump will work very well for your situation otherwise buy the IR.

I think I might go for the IR. Keep the tank and plumb it into your system as a reserve air receiver.

Yea 6hp will be fine make sure you match your RPM's between the pump and motor by changing the pulley size on the motor.
