Mine is about 13 years old. It heats my machine shop every day in winter ( about 7-8 months around here.
Usually a clean up, and blow it out with air hose every year, and it works.
This year it will light, but only the top burner tube. I can light the 2nd tube, and then all of them light and work ok.
If left alone, it does this 3 times, and locks out.

Last week I took a wire shotgun cleaning brush and cleaned out in front of the orifices. There was some flaky soot. Maybe this is blocking the gas crossover to help spread the flame.
Any other ideas before I take it apart?
Anything special I should check while in there?

Thanks

I found the problem. There is some crud and debris in the 'flame spreader' channels. The screwdriver in the pic is too big to use, so I'll get a hacksaw blade and run it thru by hand.

I got it running good today. The gap for the spreader had crust down in it. After cleaning all the gaps, I had made them too wide. The correct width seems to be the width of a hacksaw blade.
After this, it lights quickly off of the first burner.
Toward the end of last season, it would make a (swoosh) when it lit. It doesn't now.
