I've got a ventless gas fireplace in my house, running off of propane (LP). I've had it for several years and never had a problem out of it until this year. I went to go and light up the pilot light, and it lights....but the flame is VERY weak. Instead of a nice 1" long blue flame, it's probably less than 1/2" inch....and it sputters and flickers, and after about 10 seconds it goes out. I can hit the igniter again and it lights right up, and burns for a few seconds and dies out again.
It's not the thermocouple because it's getting gas, I can hear it. And if the pilot goes out and I don't light it up right away, the gas valve will click off and shut the gas supply off. So I think the thermocouple is operating light it's supposed to.
It's just an extremely weak pilot flame. I pulled the burner assembly out of the fireplace, cleaned the pilot light tube and jet (it was clean), put it all back together...and it's the same thing. Could the main gas valve be screwed up? Any other ideas?
