Does anyone have both a 4 post and 2 post side by side? I've seen a couple with multiple 2 posters and a couple of two 4 posts and double wide 4 posts, but not any many with a 2 and a 4.

I was just trying to layout a foot print in excel of what this would look like. Trying to see what width would be needed.

Jealous, I wish I had the room!
My twin post was right at 14ft overall and the four post I'll be replacing it with is 11'4" overall.
Side by side I would think 30' would be a good minimum. Like I said, I wish I had the room.
Post pics when your done!!

i dont have much room, 24' wide, but I'm trying to squeeze it. I think I can make it work, but wanted an actual view of work space with 2 lifts

My twin was extra wide as will be the four post. More standard size lifts I'm sure you can squeeze them in. Wish I had a pic of both for you.
Good luck!

Is that a 66 or a 65 SS Impala ? The only reason I ask is that we had a Black on Black 65 Impala SS when I was a kid. Dad bought it off the show room floor for $2400.00 brand new !! I think the 66 looks cleaner with the flush tail lights, but I prefer the "Ketchup" bottle 65 tail lights. 3 on each side for the Impala. I believe the Belair only had 2 per side.

Nice rides by the way !!!

Looks like you have plenty of clearance around the posts. Do you find yourself confined? Any negatives/positives to speak of?

The big tool chests are in the way. I plan to move them at some point. Other than that - no issues. I can stand up under both lifts when they are raised full height.

Here is a picture of my 2-post and 4-post lifts, side by side. Garage has a vaulted ceiling at 15-feet (affording full lift height access), and is 22-feet deep by 24-feet wide.

Since the posts aren't next to each other you can cheat them a bit, nesting the 2 post somewhat inside the 4 post, leaving enough room to walk around them. I have mine planned for this but I'm not done yet (and don't have the hoists).

04Chase, how far from the front and back walls due you have your two post installed? How is it lifting your big truck on a asymmetrical lifted? Do you ever wish you had a symmetrical?

I am looking for a lift for my 03 silverado SS and flipping back and forth between an asymmetrical and a symmetrical.

for me the asymmetrical was a better choice. in the pictures above i can still pull a third car in at an angle in the same door i used for the 2 post ( the car can park to the right of the 2 post , closest to where the photo was taken. So being the posts were closer to the far wall allowed more room to get by . where as a symmetrical would have not allowed as much room to get by being the posts are more centered. With trucks it seems that right about where the mirrors are lined up with the posts is perfect for racking. More of a pita to get in and out if the posts are right where the b pillar is and the door hits. I have plenty of room between my tool box and even a 3500 hd to get my top side creeper in and open the drawers in the box.

the truck in the picture isnt mine , i have a similar one just older (07 classic 2500 duramax)

I am not sure if you were on the SilveradoSS forum but i miss mine . its in texas now kicking *** but i had so much hard work and time in that truck.

I worked at a dealership for a while where I had both and it was really great. I was able to knock a ton of work out in a hurry with that setup.

I was looking at Rotary's website and they say that for an asymmetrical lift you want 15' from the center of the posts to the rear door. Does that sound about right when you are lifting your HD's? I would hate to install the lift and then find out I cannot close my garage door when I have a 3500 HD on the lift.

Yes, not to take away from this thread but I am on SilveradoSS. I have had my truck since new in 2003. You are like a legend on that site with all the work you put into your black SS. I love what you did with your shop too.

I do recall you now . Appreciate the kind words on that truck.I do miss it but my 07 duramax has the same exact interior (all carbon, including the steering wheel). I now have a 09 cts-v with 800 whp on e85 with flex fuel and all supporting mods ,it will trap 140 at 10 flat or high 9s on good day, i just installed the nitrous kit with dual bottles snd a stand alone fuel setup with everything completely hidden with the hood and trunk popped, goal is 9.5 or better and 150+ .
Funny is that truck led me to my knowledge of the gmt800-gmt900 platform and now diesels. I do side work now on gm trucks and Ford since they tend to break and need repairs often (6.0 and 6.4) for you psd lovers. That white dmax is adams2003 that was on sss.com he sold his as well and almost bought mine. But that 16 ltz dmax left with a cognito 4-6" ntbd lift , fox shocks, idler pitman support, front bumper mod. Then came back for a complete on board air system with in cab controls ,5 gallon tank, viair 450 ,bags as well as a handy quick coupler for air tools at the rear bumper.i tried talking him into a Nathan airchime after showing him mine.

For the lift I'll measure today but I can fit a 3500 hd dually with my shop door closed . My two post is also angled slightly to the left (you pull toward the 4 post when you pull in )this allowed more room to squeak by to the right of the lifts with a third car.

This is the only pic I have with a car on that side , it's been the fab area lately.

Nice garage, but an interesting setup. So you have the 2-post at an angle? Was this to gain more clearance against the 4-poster? Do you have a photo with a car on the lift?

Here you go. Pardon the junk on the 4 post, using it as a huge shelf for my shed junk while I replace my shed.

A 2 post next to a 4 post is much better than a 4 post next to a 4 post or a 2 post next to a 2 post.

I know this thread is a couple of years old, but maybe you'll see a notification on this still. Can you tell me what your building depth is here? Your setup and use is exactly what I'm planning out. I want to be able to put a CCLB on the lift and still have room in front to work with my Epiq on the wall.
