I have a Hay Budden 188# anvil that I do not need. I would like to make it available for sale to a GJ member (especially one in the greater SF Bay area, as I really prefer not to have to ship) for a reasonable price, but I don't know what the anvil is worth. Any pricing suggestions? It has great ring and bounce, but has obviously seen some real use over its lifetime.

I appreciate any input.

Budden made great anvils... some of the best. Horn looks like it could be in better shape... $3 per pound seems to be the going rate these days... around here that's a 400-600 dollar anvil.

Take some pics of the face so we can get a better idea on pricing. I would agree with organ on price if the face is decent. Even if the face isn't in good condition there are still people willing to buy them for a pretty penny. I love old anvils! I wish I could afford one but my railroad track will have to work for now.

From that one pic, the sides of the face edge are not chipped up, but the horn has obviously seen some dedicated use to be indented like that.

Take pictures of both sides, and the top face. For some people they like to know the vintage year of the anvil. There should be a serial number on the front foot under the horn. From the serial number the approximate year can be told.

You've got to get to 100 posts and you can just list on GJ Classified.

Nice gesture making it available to GJer's first.
