Here's the story of my heirloom wire strainers which have been around the world.. I previously had no idea where these wire strainers were made, and of course before the days of the internet couldn't easily look it up. After suffering using a succession of various inferior makes and models some years ago I bought a set of Hayes ones brand new, from a supplier in Scotland. I don't do a lot of fence mending these days, so sent them along with a pallet of farm stuff to my son in New Zealand as I thought they might be more useful to him as around there they have lots of livestock and wire fences. He thought it was a great laugh, as it turns out that Hayes Engineering is reasonably close to him so he went there last Sunday for an outing and took the pictures. The strainers he now has have travelled entirely around the world or possibly halfway around it, twice, depending which direction they went when first exported! They went Westwards from here, on a boat from Bristol via Charlestown and the Panama Canal (watched it go through the locks on the web cam) then across the Pacific.
