Greetings all
Looking at getting a 1/2 drive Hazet or Stahlwille set.
Have seen Hazet have a set which is a 953Hp and then a more or less identical 953Spc.
Can any one shed some liget on the difference between these two Socket sets?
Over the years I have just ever bought individual sockets as I need them, but they have all been imperial and now times change to metric.
thanks.

I'm pretty sure its the ratchet otherwise they look identical. I have both ratchets and I'm lucky enough to also have stahlwille 1/2 socket sets as well. The 953hp has a finer mechanism, I do like it and use it more often than the original.

Both brands have their house quirks and finishes. I love using both.

If I was looking for a set today, I'd go for what ever was the best deal at the time, you can't go wrong with either. Being a fellow Aussie I've purchased almost all my german tools direct from Germany, however Amazon AU (especially if you have prime) has some good Hazet prices, although not a wide selection some good stuff comes up and bang :) Happy Hunting.

The 953spc has the conventional Hazet ratchet’s, the 953hp has the fine tooth “Hi Per” ratchets. Go with whichever you prefer.

I should say that whichever you get, those sets tend to be excellent value. They tend to be available on a factory promotion by Hazet, which is why the prices are generally so reasonable.

I picked up a 953spc a few years back and it’s great - a well balanced / useful selection of tools. I bought it to keep on a vehicle, but it has become one of my ”grab and go” tool sets, so sees a lot of use. My only observation is that if you get a 27mm nut, done up to a standard torque for the size, you’re not shifting it with the standard length ratchet included in the set!

For me, the jury is out on the fine tooth ratchets. Some folks seem to love ‘em, some say they are a bit troublesome. I have exclusively the conventional Hazet ratchet’s, I find them smooth and durable, and have no intention of changing.

Prior to buying this set I owned no Hazet 1/4” drive, but I found it so good I’ve subsequently bought a load more. It fits together very positively (no wobble, which I hate) and is great to use. Hazet offer an awesome selection of 1/4” ratchets too.

Thanks Guys for the prompt reply’s, good info.
yes the old Amazon has some good prices on these at the moment.
I do Enjoy Stahlwille but feel at the prices on Amazon for the Hazet 953 it’s really good.
I have read that they may come with 16mm and 18mm which if you work on Cat gear that’s all
they use. If not, at the price they are after for the set a couple more sockets is OK.

I have the 953HP set and have been extremely pleased with it...so much so, that I bought the 3/8 set as well. They are some of the best deals out there.

Personally, I prefer higher tooth ratchets, so I say go for the HP set. It's also cheaper than the SPC set.
Then regarding the 16mm and 18mm sockets, mine came with them. I think it's the older SPC that don't always include them.
