Does anyone own and have better pictures of one of these or possibly something similar? Even high res catalog scans would be nice. I'm trying to understand how the tambour door works on that shallow of a depth. Props if someone has a home built version.

Thanks

Here is another manufacture to add to the list. Yato.

Just a guess on my part, but I will speculate that the tambour rolls around behind and between the pegboard and the back of the cabinet.

That is kinda what I was thinking as that is how the roll a bench tool box works. The cabinets seem to average around 8" deep. Then how is the peg board affixed? Cross bracing? :dunno:

A GarageJournal member had a Facom one listed for sale in the classifieds section a while back.

Yes, I'm familiar with that. I think the vertical open doors are cooler though.

Looking at the space provided above the door on the blue ones, I'd guess that the door is rolled up around a spring loaded rod in that upper portion. :dunno:

For some reason, I didn't think the slats were narrow enough to allow that small of a bend radius. Wouldn't that be quite a bit to coil up?

That Facom definitely looks to roll behind the pegboard but the rest have that space above the door and no tools hang above the roughly 2" door panel that hangs down from that space. Looks like roughly 1" slats, maybe 16" high, I think that could be rolled into a 4-6" diameter spot. There is either a bunch of wasted space, a hidden light tucked up in there or my guess, the door roller. :dunno:

Just for your entertainment, I haven't had these apart, but here's pics of some that GDS put into the ******** boards for Greaves at Le Mans.

Don't have any input on the tool cabinets, but that looks to be a pretty cool VW Fastback in the first photo. I always had a fondness for the Type 3s.
