Gonna treat myself to Christmas right this year. Looking to upgrade my ratchet and socket set and want something German.

Who makes a better ratchet and socket? Hazet or Stahlwille?

Grab yourself a coin and find out..... :bounce:

It would have to be "Heads" for Hazet though.

I don't have any stahwille but I have accumulated quite a bit of Hazet this past year. Have to say I'm impressed! Especially like their 72 tooth ratchets.

Monte,
I think its blue or green :bounce:

HA HA That's good. Monte suggested Stahlwille to me . You get more for the money. I personally like the smoother finish of the Stahlwille too. I have had both and the Hazets were sold off on the bay. I have 1/4, 3/8 Stahlwille Ratchets, sockets & wrenches 7-21 and they are nice. I have the Hazet screwdrivers because I like the BLUE, However I have a GREEN budget.
I want to find an imitation Hazet set like they mention on there website and put it in my imitation hazet assistent AKA The Tool Caddy
I will buy the hazet double box end wrenches, because the design is new. I sold off the double box Stahlwilles I had.

Go GREEN or BLUE, Just GO

To me it comes down to the finish I want. Stahlwille uses a smooth finish on most tools while Hazet mostly uses a matt finish.

Can't go wrong with either!

I have both. Never saw an issue with either. I prefer Hazet due to the connection to Porsche, aesthetics, and the fact that I have a great dealer

Much as I hate to say it, and I have used both Hazet and Stahlwille, Snap On fine tooth ratchets are the top grain on the sandpile. No comparison needed. You can treat yourself if you like. Even Germans buy Snap On tools. While I think that Stahlwille and Hazet are excellent tools and own some of each, you couldn't run fast enough to give me any ratchet except a snap on, unless of course I was going to sell it. In combination wrenches on the other hand, while I have mainly Snap On, I think Stahlwille are much much better in both design and execution.

I have an FLF80 lying in my Assistent, as well. It is nice, but I do prefer the German tools most of the time. For value, mainly.

yeah french and italian :D

My first car was french, a Citroen GS. Great car if it had been built by Mercedes ;-)

Today I have a BMW and my wife has an Audi.

I have though collected a number of old Italian cars. I assume the ones that are still around after several decades are the ones that were OK :bounce:

Regarding the original question: I would like you to prefer Hazet because I sell it. But, honestly I have some Stahlwille tools as well from my pre-dealer times and they are as usable. So it's really like Audi vs. BMW: get both

I havent used stahlwille ratchets but their wrenches are great if you are ok with the length. As for warranty I think they warranty for manufacturing defects but they do not have any kind of craftsman like warranty, they have a if you broke it you used it wrong way of looking at things which is usually because their stuff doesn't really fail.

They don't have it on them now but in the old days stahlwille wrenches used to have "Stronger then any bolt" written on them.
