All excellent brands and I own sockets and tools by all of them. Only thing you need to be concerned with, is how easy it will be to warranty them if need be.

Spreaking from a USA perspective:

If you're going to use the sockets and want a lifetime of reliable service, get the Armstrong.

If you're going to use the sockets and want a lifetime of reliable service plus a little bling, get the Snap On.

If you're going to use the sockets and want a lifetime of reliable service plus something a little exotic, get the Hazet or Stahlwille.

Current armstrong production is exactly the same as craftsman usa. Check out proto, wright or SK if you want proffesional grade tools without spending a fortune

If you want good looking tools SK or Wright. If you want functional satin finish that don't slip out of your hands I'd be looking at Hazet, Gedore, Stahlwile, Toptul

Or Williams USA. Exact same sockets as Snap-On.

I've switched to buying Ko-ken, After years of reliable Snap-On service I thought I would try something else a little less damaging on the wallet (at UK prices at least). I can honestly say they are great value well made and almost as nice as the Snappys. I also have some Tridents in semi deep 3/8 and whilst not as nice as the others they are decent and cheap.

I've also got a Bahco 3/8 dual 80 ratchet and some Beta extensions which I really like and use all the time.

Armstrong has started making their sockets with the Craftsman type socket retaining system. I'd suggest avoiding that brand for now.

+1

Not Armstrong, for sure. The sockets aren't worth it. You can get the same thing with the Craftsman name and Apex's warranty service is spotty unless you have a local distributor that will warranty them.

I'm no Armstrong hater. The Maxx ratchets and wrenches are nice. The sockets aren't worth the price, unless you get an amazingly cheap deal on them.
