Hi,

I'm new here - found this site based on some research into Hazet tools. I'm a DIYer and have always had an interest in collecting decent tools (I blame my dad as my childhood memories of him never having the right tool for the job still haunt me!)

I've collected a few Facom and Hazet bits over the past year or so, but am looking to expand into a full tool chest to tidy up my storage situation whilst also collecting a few more bits.

Has anyone looked at the Hazet 179NXXL-7/340 tool chest? https://www.hazet.de/en/products/ge.../tool-trolley-i?number=en_179NXXL-7-SLASH-340

Seems to come with a fair number of tools and is available from about 3200eur in Europe.

I don't know anyone personally with a Hazet tool chest so am wondering what the general experience here is? Do they rust or break easily? Appreciate that the 179NXXL line is new out so maybe no one here has one?

Any advice gratefully received!

Drawers are only 15-1/2" deep .
As a diy'er you find a box from clarke or sgs more than up to the task and that only £400 roughly which would give you 2,500 euro on tools of your choice, Id be looking at stahlwille, facom, koken, toptul and even sealey premier for select items .
I found tool chests from europe brands like beta, facom etc always be overpriced for what getting .
Looking at used mac or snapon could be an option, snapon box holds value sonever loose on them .

Not my choice, too expensive, and things like chests I prefer to buy used and pick out which tools I want to have in it.

Doesn't everything rust in the UK?

Hah, yes it can be a bit damp here.

Will have a closer look at the Snapon and Mac catalogues to get a better idea of other models. Ideally I'd be looking at a usable non-chinesium stainless work top too. Maybe a big ask for my budget..

Cheers,
Ben.

clarke do decent 56" 24.5" deep tool cabinet for £700 and on machinemart tax free sale it about £580
Could add a thick ply infill and get a sheet of stainless cut and formed or use alloy edge trimming to complete a solid worktop .
Those HD Plus clarke boxes are very solid for the potential sale cost .

How much space do you have? I wouldnt pay over £2.5K for a tool chest that size, especially for a DIY'er.

Check out the Halfords industrial lineup, they're boxes have a good lifetime warranty and you can get a deal with roller cap, middle and top chest often, their Pro range is also decent, stay away from the basic stuff.

Costco were selling a smaller verison of this not long ago;

For the money it seemed like a good box, steel was thick enough, 2 roller lines per side on the larger drawers, ball bearing slides and the wooden top was about 1,1/4" thick from memory.

One of the above paired with a decent cart will see you well into a professional job if you decide to go for it one day, i like a decent sized plastic cart;

Something to just place stuff down on, i don't like those wee "mini-toolboxes" that people roll about with them, for the price of them you may as well get a fulled sized roller chest.

It's a double garage. The Sealey trolley looks pretty useful - will also check that out as well as the Halfords and Costco tool chest options.

Thanks.

I don't rate the halfords tool box range high . clarke HD plus way better and better drawer layout, box sizes too .
Sealey superline pro cabinets not bad if shop about online for lowest price on a box model you like . has to be superline pro range as lot of others they do are total junk .
Some of the sgs stuff not bad for the price, it average chinese though .
Costco can work out good some of the stuff they use source from taiwan was very good .
