This is still full price in the store though, right? I have been watching this item and considering pulling the trigger on it.

Not too sure on the store price but you can always order it online and have it shipped to a store.

I wonder if this will include their table saw/miter saw/planer/joiner/etc.

I think its cordless only....the x5 (current generation being x4) stuff was announced last month and release date was March I think

Ive never really noticed HD clear out a complete generation of tools to make way for the new one....Ive always just seen them slowly phased in as the old ones sold out, at least at the stores near me. Ridgid especially, since the batteries from previous generations are supposed to still be compatible.

You may eventually notice some good deals on old gen stuff, but it will take months and will be one offs that they forgot to put out originally. I stumbled on the $20.00 x2 caulking gun and 1 cent x2 jigsaw long after the x3 stuff was out.

I have the X4 drill/impact driver set and its very nice. Only things I don't like are the 1.5 amp-hr batteries and no torque settings on the impact driver. The new X5 Generation will have a 3-speed torque setting on the impact driver, more power for both drill and impact driver, and better lighting at the chuck, instead of the handle bottom. Also think they will be offering a brushless motor line as well.

Might want to wait for the X5 tools to see if they are worth the difference in price.

This set is online only. Picked one up, been in the market for impact wrench anyway.

I missed that they came out with a 1/2" impact. This is really bad because I just ordered my first Milwaukee 18v tool, the 1/2" Fuel impact yesterday. The Ridgid is rated at 300 ft lbs vs 210 ft lbs for the Milwaukee.

I've had the 18v Ridgid set for awhile because of the LSA. I recently started buying the M12 tools like they're going out of style.

So do I keep the M18 and have THIRD set of batteries and chargers or just return it and buy the Ridgid

I know I wouldn't like having three different sets of batteries and chargers. Though i do have two. One set (18v Dewalt) for the shop and another (18v Ridgid) for the house.

So I'm doing a bit of an experiment. I bought most of the things here this morning (Impact, shop-vac, reciprocating saw, and hammer-drill. If the black-friday trends are the same, they'll be on initial clearance some time next week ($**.04), and then next-level clearance two weeks after that ($**.02). If so, where I bought them in the store, I should be able to price adjust $500 of tools to about $125 thanks to my friendly local customer service cashier. If not, I return everything and don't lose anything.

I haven't picked up any 4ah batteries yet, as the only one in the store I went to was open and they would only do $9 off. For a battery, that's a bit risky, as there's no way to see if it's just a really pretty battery that's spent and won't hold a charge well. I'm curious to see where all of this goes.

I have the 18v Ridgid 1/2 impact gun. Great tool. I haven't found anything that it won't do for me. I use it around the house for projects like removing lawn mower blades, servicing the polaris ranger and snowmobiles and the once in a blue moon flat tire on the trailer. Nothing against Milwaukee but I'd return the one u bought and get the RIDGID.

I got a chance to handle both the Ridgid and Milwaukee 1/2" Impact in the stores. The Ridgid seems a little heavier and bigger but at an extra 100 ft lbs I guess it's worth it. The only thing that makes me debate is that I think having the torque settings on the Milwaukee for quick rough tightening would be really nice.

Which Milwaukee Drill are you referring to? The Fuel Line has brushless motor, higher power and longer runtime. If power is main factor, then look at the new Makita Brushless Hamerdrill, which has the highest tourqe in its class @ 1090 inch-lbs.

Sorry, earlier in the thread I was discussing the difference between the 1/2" impacts. Edited for clarity.

The new Ridgid X5 Impact Driver will have 2000 inch-lbs torque and 3-speed selector. That will make it the most powerful of any impact driver on the market.

Do you know if the new (assuming there is a new one) 1/2" Impact will have a 3 torque setting? If so, I might just wait.

I haven't seen an announcement of an X5 I/2 Inch Impact Wrench yet. Ridgid is suppose to be coming out with a new line of brushless motor 18V Tools, so probably will have a replacement for the X4 I/2 Inch Impact Wrench, which is single speed (300 ft-lbs) .
