Does anyone else find themselves randomly browsing through their local HD (or other big box store) consciously or subconsciously looking for those clearance yellow tags? I find myself always scanning for them, especially in the tool and h/w departments. I've found some nice bargains that I probably didn't really need and would never pay normal prices for and wasted a ton of money acquiring stuff I may not use. I wonder if there is some intentional sprinkling of them around the store just to get your eyes browsing at more than what you were there to get??? I am forever a sucker for "clearance" or special mark-downs for things I really don't need but can't pass up, either.

I would never do that..........or arrive there with coupons stuffed in all my pockets, Or fill my phone with photos of all the sale flyers and 20% off coupons.....or rifle through their outside trash for a coupon I'm missing..........not me!:lol_hitti

Damn, just stopped by my local HD and found a closeout on Klein 9" lineman's pliers ($28 on Amazon) for $21. Mine have a "wire stripper" notch in the side cutting blade created from from the arc explosion of cutting a live piece of Romex many years ago so it is good to finally have a replacement.

if i have a day that i'm bored outta my mind, and have nothing that needs to get done, i'll hit all the big box stores, and just wander around for a while.

the "big 3" big box stores have 2 locations within a 10-15 minute drive.

Yep, I do that at Lowes too, just missed out on kobalt 5 pc. plier set, usually 29.97 for 9.97. Darn, they were all gone.

I was actually there picking up a second set of the Knipex pliers and ran across this exact set you're talking about. Not bad for throwing in the truck toolbox.

Yellow stickers do NOT always mean clearance at reduced prices. Sometimes they put those stickers on items where there is too much inventory, but the price is not reduced one cent, its just a ploy to get you to buy the item. Check carefully to see what the original price and current price are, before you jump on the yellow sticker bandwagon.

While we're on this topic... has anyone ever noticed blank orange price stickers (the small rectangle ones) on certain price labels? Ive seen this a few different items and not sure if its just some goon walking around with an empty price tag gun, or if it means anything?

Home Depot in Casper, WY did this over Christmas. Most of their Milwaukee M12 items had yellow stickers on them for the same price they had been before the holidays. Asked the "tool guy" there and he said they were having issues keeping them in stock with those yellow stickers on em :shocking:

Yes, it is very important you know your prices, features and model numbers. It also helps if you have a smartphone or other device with you so you can look up things on Amazon or other places to compare prices and features.
